    Vib Ribbon

Picked a copy of this at a car boot sale the other day and i'm really enjoying it

Does anyone know if the music in it is licensed or made specifically for the game, because i really like it and want more

I seem to remember thegia (game site, RIP) discussing that the songs were written especially for the game. Hence the weird speed changes as some of the songs get harder

yeah its ace shame there isnt more as it tends to go nuts if you put your own music in it

There was a plastic fold-sleeved pal press edition that came with an extra audio cd, containing some songs that were supposedly remixed/written especially for the game.

I think it had a cd-rom with press info too, and the normal pal release poster.

Vib Ribbon has always seemed to work best with my Kraftwerk CDs. I threw a couple of Pixies albums at it once that it handled them quite well too.

it's a shame more of these games don't come out these days. Such a innovative concept.

When it comes to 3rd party music, Vib Ribbon is a rather amusing demonstration of musical complexity.

S-Club - Absolutely ridiculously simple. Completable with one hand.

Big Bad Voodoo Daddies - Pretty Darn Hard. Doable though.

Captain Beefheart - Are you completely insane?

Vib Ribbon was only released in 2000, and it's already considered "Retro"?

In any case, great game. Lovely style. Addictive.

But it is a case of heaven and hell, because as pointed out, the title goes into meltdown with some CDs and becomes impossibly hard.

Still... When the experience is balanced 'tis rather good.

The music appears as normal audio tracks on the CD, none of the usual PSOne hidden format you usually get so you can just plonk it in your cd drive and rip away.

High Contrast's Tru Colours works well if you fancy a challenge...

I know that Laugh and Peace did some remixes of Ayumi Hamasaki songs (Far away, End of the world, Never ever) ... See if you can track down some of the Ayu-mi-x CDs, perhaps ?

I've found Vib Ribbon is fine with most music CDs. Just stay away from heavily layered tracks that don't have a steady, constant rhythm and you'll be OK.

I've tried all sorts of unlikely stuff in there and it's been OK.

I tried Epic by Faith No More...

I almost went blind and my fingers nearly broke trying it.

I did hear tell of a web site that listed songs to use, but i never could find it.

Maybe it was an urban myth, like richard gere and the hamster...

vib ribbon is cool as it makes 'unlistenable' cds 'listenable' , for example , usually my wifes best of abba cd is guaranteed to send me into a seizure , but i will happily plonk away at vib ribbon to the tune of 'dancing queen'

New Order's 'Blue Monday' makes for a nice level.
