Anyone here who ISN'T going into excited convulsions about the 360?

I just can't get excited about this machine - I don't like Microsoft (always preferred Macs and their OS) - for me, it's Sony who really floats my gaming boat, despite their shortcomings, and even the Revolution has me intrigued! I will be buying a PS3 but how do YOU feel about the whole next-gen race - and which console will you be supporting?

I hope I'm not raking over some tired, age-old argument that has been discussed before (please delete this post if I have) but I just wanna know where peoples allegiances lie and why. Feel free to bitch about the merits (or lack of therein, as far as you are concerned) of the 3 main console big boys as the first shot is fired in the next-gen war....

Its interesting but i wouldnt say im excited by it, I was planning on pre-ordering one but then that fell through as I got hooked on the DS

and now im a bit worried about buying one early due to some of the reports ive been hearing about it freezing etc and im thinking of holding off

In terms of excitement the launch isnt getting me as buzzed as I was when the Playstation one came out or the n64, I can remember finding it hard to get to sleep near the release of those (yes i was/am a sad geek)

I'm looking forward to getting an Xbox 360, however I'm not in wet dream territory just yet. I'm not bothered by all this shortage on launch day ****, it just annoys me and I see it as nothing more than hype building. I will get one, but not yet, it'll be when there are games that I consider to be decent, and when the price and HD stuff is sorted out a little better.
I dunno perhaps I'm getting old, but it all seems a little rushed. At the moment I'm more than happy with my humble old (Modded ) xbox and Half Life 2, and I can't wait for the new Tomb Raider either. So yeah, I'm in no rush at the mo.

I am not excited by the 360 but to be fair i do not think there has been a console that i have ever been excited about at launch. The original xbox when it had games like panzer dragoon/gun valkirie/knights of the republic then i got excited.

Give it at least 5 months i am sure there will be some must have games that i would buy it for.

I'll be picking up all the main players. It's the games which matter, and I'm sure when the PS3 launches there will be a similar despondency from other people too.

The only console on the horizon that might be able to break through launch day blues and interest most (if not everyone) here is the Revolution, and that's mostly because of its control method at the moment than knowledge on software in development.

To put it into context though (in reference to this thread)...

I'm more excited about receiving my HDTV and the component cables it comes with, so I can play the likes of Shadow of the Colossus in progressive scan than the next generation right now.

It's slightly ironic that the 360 is ushering in the high definition era, but I've bought a HDTV to specifically take advantage of current gen delights.

I'm not particularly excited by it - Having said that I have two on pre-order - I am not particularaly bothered if I don't get mine, but I do want my oldest to have his here for Xmas

Sega were always the ones that gave me my gaming fix. Sega's stuff was bright and colourful but not excessively so - and I don't want to upset any die-hard Nintendo fans, but you can see what I mean when I say their games are a different type of bright and colourful. A lot of Sony stuff on the other hand seemed excessively dark and dull. For me, Sega occupied the space in between. To replace the Dreamcast I picked an Xbox, then sold it to get a GameCube, then got a PS2 to sit beside it, sold that, then eventually picked up an Xbox again to go alongside it. I've drifted around but I've never really found a proper replacement.

Either way, I really couldn't care less about the 360. There's about 2 or 3 games I regularly play on my original Xbox as it is: it's a Halo 2 and Psychonauts player. (And Psychonauts is also on the PC (and PS2) because Microsoft decided it wasn't the sort of game they wanted to publish exclusively on their system - telling.) I doubt I'll care much about the PS3 either. I'm not a Nintendo fanboy in any way but if anyone's going to get me interested in console gaming again then it's them.

its not that exciting to be honest , only wanting one as its something new and would probably get bored of it after a while

I think I'm going in the opposite direction to what the 360 seems to be about. Cheap games with stylish 2D graphics on a small screen I can play pretty much anywhere is completely rocking my world - the thought of spending all that money to get the best graphical performance out of a very expensive console gives me the fear. I may get excited when I start to hear reports on how good the games are but until then I'm having enough fun with the current generation to notice if its even launched yet...

I shall be purchasing all three and therefore supporting all them - because for me it's more about the games than the hardware, I always find something unique on all systems to justify the purchase of them. There will be some excellent games on all systems, this is only the beginning of the next-gen.

The PS3 and Revolution will be imports though, as I'm not hopeful we're going to see improved software support for either of those machines.

Personally I'm not too hyped up over the coming gen. That said I will no doubt end up owning all 3 in the future, once they have come down a bit in price. I haven't bought a console at release for ages, and with the worrying tales of 360 troubles I'm kinda glad I've stuck to it. I reckon the day the PS3 launches will see a nice price drop in the 360, and me handing over the readies for some MS gaming fix.

I just wish we could return to the days of killer apps like SM64.

I'm not excited by the 360, because the games aren't there for me yet (& neither is the HDTV ) When the games appear, so will my credit card.

That said, I fully understand why others are excited & more power to 'em I say - this is our hobby & our passion (at least one of) & I genuinely hope everyone get's their launch 360s & doesn't pay the ridiculous prices that are being asked.
