Well, I'm supposed to be getting it for Crimbo, but have already had a go of it - and it is blinkin' hard!! You have to complete a "Battle Exam" before you can go competing in battles. Am just waiting for some cheats or Action Replay codes for infinite energy / health, coz i am gonna need it!!

      First play thread: http://ntsc-uk.domino.org/showthread.php?t=49647

The yanks are enjoying it, but it's very much a niche game (like most mecha). It seems to be harder at the start when you have a crap mech, and gets easier once you get a bit of cash together and train your chip up.

The most important bit to remember is mechs take 6x damage from behind so watch your back, while trying to shoot the enemy up the bottom.

More info, including massive amounts od stat anaylsis, here: http://www.armoredcore.org/forums/index.php (down the page)

Lord knows how long Action Replay codes for the UK / PAL version of this game will take to appear...

Just hope i don't pull all my hair out before they appear - lol

Any specific problems? I played the stock market with my initial cash, making money easier and meaning i could jump into it without having to worry about fights so much.

Then buy your first SV and play some D-rank games. The important thing is you dont seem to lose money if you make it to the exit when on low armour - so make some kills and run when you get low. I also found it a lot easier to stick to the sides/corners and pick off people, running into the middle gets you killed.

Also i remapped my controller for L1/2 to fire all left/right weapon and L2/R2 to evade left/right, and Optical Camo to L3. Seems to work a bit easier.

Overall the game's not bad, and is radically different once you level up your chip as thats only when the game starts to flow, but more a customisable 3rd person shooter than a strict mech game.

My main problem is getting past the Battle school exam - but i was gonna try fiddling with the controls and see if that makes any difference. Hopefully, there is a custom setting that puts all the controls in similar places to the Xbox Phantom Crash game- which would definitely help!!
