Real music that would be great for games...

    ...but hasn't been used yet.

Bear with me here, it's obviously a Friday topic

I Need A Hero by Bonnie Tyler with the singing taken out would be ace for the first level of a shmup. It's got that up-tempo slightly cheesy synth/drums sort of thing going on that I think would be wicked.
For some reason I feel that it's a bit reminiscent of GC Star Soldier's first level music.
There's probably quite a few 80s tracks that would be great up-tempo stuff for fighters or shmups.

hehe I already got some appropriate music on gta:liberty city stories, with a custom soundtrack, but what timing!

Driving through the red light district, Filthy gorgeous
It just starts pouring down then the importance of being lazy pipes up with this "I lost my faith in the summer time 'Cos it don't stop raining"
and ive got road rage in there for good measure

But the 80s music on vice city so made that game much more than it was...

I absolutely loved Vice City, just a shame you couldn't select your chosen track to play along with a mission. Absolutely loved the 80s rock station.
Stuck In The Middle With You was just on the radio, put me right in the mood for shooting people in the face (in a good way), which is more than a bit Tarantino, isn't it?

I dont know about the Tarantino thing but always loved that song, I find it funnier when a random song actually fits the situation, never fails to raise a smile.

Ah I'd put vice city on just to listen to the music, heres hoping for a vice city stories :P

Electric Dreams was just on the radio, it's one of those songs that puts a smile on my face no matter what mood I'm in. I don't care what game it's in, as long as it's in one

I'd like to see a next-generation/less computerised version of Rez taking advantage of a high-end engine such as Unreal 3's, and taking a tour over a fantastical landscape to a soundtrack by 4-Hero/Susumu Yokota/Cinematic Orchestra, directed in conjunction with Jeff Minter and Tetsuya Mizuguchi.

            So yes, real world music...

            4-Hero - Les Fleur
            4-Hero - Conceptions
Susumu Yokota - King Dragon Fly
            Susumu Yokota - Flying Cat
Cinematic Orchestra - Awakening of a Woman
            Cinematic Orchestra - Evolution

Synched in line with a more challenging, deeper version of Rez situated over an airbrushed Autumn landscape.

Not quite entirely replying to the topic, but I tried.

The piano lines in George Michael's Father Figure sound almost exactly the same as the team select tune in arcade World Cup 90.

How about something by 50Cent? *chuckle*

I really think Pendulum's Slam would well in a fast-paced 2D shooter, as would Terminal. Also, Portishead wouldn't be too bad on the next Team Silent game, if Yamaoka moves on.

                  But tonight... it's heavy stuff.

The world definitely needs some Methods of Mayhem on a bitchin' game, with hoes with big tatas and everything.

Clitorises are fearin' me! It's bigger than Ron Jeremy!

Slam actually reminds me a lot of instrument sets from a Megadrive. First time I heard it it immediately made me think of Sonic 2.

                    "hoes with big tatas"
                    Harvest Moon?

                      tatas, not 'taters.

The next GTA could do worse than dedicate a whole station to Detroit - encompassing soul, electro, and all things UR related.

Going to see Underground Resistance in Liverpool tonight, got my black lycra leather gimp mask ready to join the Mad-Mike-Alikes.
