A question about ubisoft and the prince of persia games

    What i know is this

Sands of time was released and it did not do that well (or as well as it could have). From what i have heard its because of it being released at christmas time where it was over whelmed by a number of higher profile games.

Trouble is they released warriors within was released the same time and from what i can see two thrones will be released in dec.

Is that just really stupid or is there some other reason i am not aware of?

The second one sold a **** load though so it all worked out. No doubt their marketing commitee will be along to answer your question in a minute.

Ahh ok then just seemed a odd bit of business strategy when they released the second game at the same time.

Though i suspect the more adult tone might have increased sales a bit (i prefered the feel and atmosphere of the original though)

Warriours within is more or less sand of time with a lick of gothic paint. They banged on about the revolutionary fighting sysetm, i jus couldnt get me head round it and mainly played it for the obstacle course like terrain. Lovely gymnastics though, some real hairy moments where you think a jump was impossible. I take it they rush a sequel out each year in time for the Xmas boom.

Just my puzzle was if i released a game at december (like with sands of time) and it did not do too well Not because it was bad or lack of praise.Just because there were so many games released then it was kind off lost.

If i was to release a sequel i would release it earlier or later

It actually did pretty reasonably, in the end. Chart position was crap to start with, but you've got to remember that even a middling chart position in the Christmas rush equates to more copies sold than a number-one in the middle of the summer.

Also, the sequel was a follow-up to a game that loads of people played eventually (even if many of them got it cheap) and every single magazine out there had drooled over.

They released Sands of Time "exclusively on PS2" for about 4 months and it sold terribly as most people ignored it. Eventually it came out for GC and Xbox but the momemtum was lost by then.
Great game, Warrior Within was rubbish in comparison too much button mashing for my liking.

A friend of mine's working on Two Thrones and reckons that it's infinitely superior to Warrior Within in every way.
Which, as he admits, isn't really much as a statement.

Sands of Time was great but Warrior Within was really frustrating and buggy. I can't complete the game, due to numerous glitches. Ubisoft has locked me out from buying the 3rd sequel (Two Thrones) because I can't beat WW, and thus don't know what happens in the game. It would be like watching the final episode of a trilogy without watching the middle.

                  That is their folly.

Btw, I'm playing the PC version, and there are still no update patches for it, a year down the track.

I'm really looking forward to the Two Thrones. I've enjoyed both POP games so fair though I took a fair while to fininsh WW.

The bugs in WW (I have the XBOX version) were really annoying, for me getting all the way to the end of the game, reaching the last portal of the game, walking into it and well er, nothing happened! Tried again and again, reloaded some saves (I always keep a couple of saves in different positions just in case) and still nothing. Some research on the Ubi forums brings me the solution!

'Can't use the portal at point x of the game' - 'This is a known issue, the only way to sort this out is to (insert some random guff about saving here), should this problem be effecting you, you will need to restart your game from the beginning.....'

Thanks Ubi! Luckily for me having a modded Xbox meant that I could download a save just past the point I got stuck and I was able to complete the game an see all the story!

I hope there isn't anything this bad in the new game, but it still doesn't stop me really looking forward to it!

I think i have encountered a bug dont remember quite how though

I played through warriors within a little way then stopped playing it.Later on i started again from the beginning.

And i realised on my first play i had become that shadow prince far far sooner then i should have been (which made me realise why i was struggling to get further)

Yeah some nice twists in the story line, i had to own this game before i put it down in order to keep my integrity. It has a lot of potential but yet its glitchy as hell. Its what tomb raider should have been really. When will they learn that 3D fighting on miniscle platforms dont work? Especially if the fighting engine is not tight enough. I really did hate the fighinting. Running away from the daharka was fun after a couple of times but the bastard always popped up at the wrong moments and i had too redo numerous arbitary tasks in order to get back to a certain point. Now that is unforgivable.

I didnt like the ending though, well if you can call it an ending! Took me about a month and a half i think to do this bitch, playing on an off. Not sure ill pick up 2 thrones, unless they redo the fighting system or get rid of it altogether. What got me was a bonus video that banged on about the fighting in the game saying it was revolutionary. I was like yeah whatever! I turned off and promptly booted up Virtua Fighter Evo so i could show ps2 how a real fighting game should be!

Oh and sorry to go way off on a tangent!

There's two endings to the game

                            The normal one where

you kill Kilenna in the present which stops the Sands of Time being created

                            and the `true` ending where

Kilenna teams up with you to kill the Dahaka

                            .

The second is the official ending that The Two Thrones carries on from. And I'm sure there'll be a healthy recap at the start of the third for those who haven't played the first and second.

Spatial the ending i got was quite poor. Did i do a bad job at the game is that why the ending was so ****? How do you get the "proper" ending?

how do i do the spoiler quotes? been here like 4 years and still dunno how to use this place right!
