I've been quite interested in this one for a while, mainly for the co-op features, but some rather average impressions have scared me off. Assuming that someone must have picked it up, I'm just wondering what the general opinion is...

By no means a Halo beater.
I've briefly played this and unlocked 3 out of the 4 characters so my opinions are by no means set.
The controls are very similar to Halo but you view is 3rd person as opposed to first. In fact everything about the controls is similar to Halo the movement, jump button, grenade button, two guns at a time, left thumbstick to duck, right thumbstick to zoom. I have yet to understand why they implement a 3rd person view as imo it would of worked alot better as a fps maybe they just wanted to be slightly different to Halo, who knows...
The grx are fairly impressive although the lvl design is very sparse. Enemy AI is poor but then again I’ve only started on the default easy setting, I’ll expect it will increase the higher the setting go just as in Halo. The first few lvls are just there to teach you how to get to grips and implement each of the 4 characters as they each have their own special abilities. Hawk for eg has a sniper rifle is a master of stealth and can turn invisible for short periods. Where as Brutus adopts nightvision a charging dash and takes less damage when hit. Getting to know which character works best in which situation seems to be the core element of this game.
I couldn’t really comment on it further as I’ve not got the experience yet but I do think this will be another average one player game that excels when played in multiplayer. I will give more detailed impression when I’ve had more play time.
Hopefully it will be connected up via gamespy xbox connect and then online co-op can be used which would be great.
But so far not too impressed tbh…

I was very disappointed with Brute Force...well that?s until i reached level 7 then everything just clicked, im starting to appreciate the team play involved in Brute Force, it does take a little time though.
Make sure you guys start on Hard, I?ve encountered many intense battles and I found the enemies to be quite challenging, they don?t follow a pattern so you never know what to expect. BF does boast huge replay value, the co-op and multiplayer modes are very fun.
It?s a keeper fo sho

Its been out here in Australia for a few days already.
And yes the co-op works fine, its the games best feature.
Lastly it looks like the US version may even be region-free as I checked the PAL disc and all the movies and ingame cutscenes have both PAL and NTSC versions similar to what Mechassault it like.
I cant confirm this though as I have the PAL version, not the US NTSC one.
