MGP2,not as much fun as the live demo?

Is it me or does Moto GP2 seem more of a chore than an enjoyable experience?

After playing the original from launch then on xb live right unti mgp2 came out. I'm already bored og mgp2, other than the new tracks and riders all the other gameplay improvements should of just been put in a patch.

I can't talk about the multiplayer game, but I'm not enjoying the singleplayer game as much as the first one. I was never conviced about it originally, but after checking it out at Marcus' house I bought it. Really enjoyed playing through the tests, and the gp etc.

Was quietly looking forward to Moto Gp2 however it felt just more of the same. I realise the graphics have been improved slightly, but its not been as much of a blast as the original. It just feels same old, same old. Technically its an accomplished game, but it is rather dry.

I really like it. It isnt the breath of fresh air that the original was but I think they have updated it in all the right areas. The single player campaign is very similar to the first, but 96%* of all racing game updates have a similar structure to the first.

As a stand alone game it is fantastic.

        *this is not fact

Yeah I'm not enjoying it as much. The spark has gone and there isn't enough new to really keep me interested all over again.

The game structure really annoys me as well. I just wanna go out and race ffs!!!

havent played the first one, or online.

i'm thinking its a pretty good racer, but not the greatest thing ever. Before getting it i really thought it was going to be amazing because of what i heard about the first game.

What annoys me most is the AI of the cpu bikes, its just so depressing to be competing for a top three place, to suddenly be nudged and find yourself sliding along...now in 19th
i dont mind coming last if i tried my best, but when its no fault of my own, it just pisses me off.

building up the stats of my bike is also quite tough, there are loads of tests that i am miles off completing.
Actually designing the logos and look of my bike is great fun though. I seem to spend a long time creating new looks every few races.

perhaps i would need to play online to get the most out of it, but thats not an option at the moment.

THIS seems to be the problem, in the first one you just got in a lobby and raced around a track(laughing most of the time), now its all serious : which bike, which gear ratio, which wheelbase, which tyre setting, GOD I`m boring myself talking about it!! (Quote from the office)

I played the online demo from mid december until the release of the 2nd one quite often, I have now completed the single player mode in Moto gp2, and I`m completely bored with it, what a waste eh.

To conclude: used to be at least 10 of my friends online in moto gp 1, now only seems about 2, or 3 are ever online in moto gp 2, and they dont stay online for long. They also say the spark has gone too.

Maybe its just the fact that the suns out, and I dont want to sit indoors sweating my knackers off?

              Spoony.

              P.S. All IMHO.

I too dont have the same feeling i have to this game as i had to the original.
Its still an accomplished game but nowt really that new.
In motogp2 you always seem to come off worse in collisions with the a.i no matter what. Im sure this is obvious tweaking by climax as id assume a fair few people used the a.i riders as handy barriers (myself included, only once or twice though ) .
Still a good game though and well worth owning if youve never played the original.

I'm reviewing this for the site atm, in its own right it's a great game.

The whole dynamics of the setup do change how the bike handles, and the different bikes also change how you attack a circuit, and these can make a big difference to the race itself. In fact, I don't think these go far enough.

The AI is certainly tougher this time around, at the highest setting in particular sees you more towards the middle of the track - collision become worse the higher you set the simulation % I've found.

And Spoonman2 - congrats on completing the single player stuff, take it you've gone through all the challanges up to gold, through the season at the highest skill level and unlocked everything ?

Watch for the complete review very soon.

                    Regards
                    Marty

Yes MartyG, I completed it, and what a git it is m8.

All unlocked except a couple of mirrored, and reversed tracks, but not worried about that.

                      Spoony.

Shocking news : Spoonman2 tested positive for performance enhancing drugs (Asda Blue Charge 1 Litre bottles)

Seriosuly, well done m8 I know how long that took you

Firstly, the graphics are vastly improved, that goes without saying. And the sound, too. There are some great new features that are more then welcome, new tracks are good and the new sense of speed and proper Live integration really do work very well.

But there is something exremely unlikable about the game compared to the first. The new, less bright colours make it quite boring to look at, the close racing witnessed before does not really seem to apply to the online racing, and there are some terrible frame rate problems.

The championship mode is too hard- I have done all of the training, finished the game in Rookie, Pro and Champion yet for some reason despite coming 1st on all races Legend mode was not unlocked. And it took me a long time to do championship mode, I don't know if I can be bothered to go through all that hassle again (it was not particularly easy). So my bike sits there unable to get full stats due to this frustrating and stupidly time-consuming game error.I have to finish Legend to get full stats and this seems to boarder on the impossible, even Shaun Hargreves who was the lead developer on the game says he has touble beating 11th place on Legend.

I have not played the game very much online, but every time I do I get bored. Even after 1or 2 courses/laps. It just does not seem as likable, the handling is nowhere near as smooth and the game does not appear to flow as well as the Online demo with the Live kit. I have played Online a lot of times but each time end up disconnecting through disinterest.

Thing is, this was my most anticipated game of the past few months and I can't get into it- or even like it. The first Online demo kept me playing for months and months right up to the release of this, and I never once got fed up or bored, but this just does not have the same pull for whatever reason. And the championship mode is too bloody hard/frustrating.

Hmm a very mixed bag with regards to this sequel I see. I just picked up Xbox live finally and this has me wondering whether it's better to pick up the original or go for the newer version. Any thoughts from those who have both?
