Gamerscore

Can someone explain to me how this is calculated? Mine never seems to shift.

Gamerscore = Achievements.

Fulfill an achievement and it's worth so many gamerscore points.

Being a fairly pitiful gamer (and I may as well be open about this now given the pervasiveness of Live with all these leaderboards and achievments leaves me no choice ) with a pitiful number of achievements that does then explain my pitifully low none moving gamer score! I can only hope and prey they give out points for effott!
