Based on time spent playing, it's been Meteos for me. Closely followed by Forza, the first real driving simulator for a console. Not sure if I'd vote for them to be top though.

I'll see if I can generate a list of all the games that have been reviewed in 2005 to help you guys out.

I've added a list of games we've reviewed to the first post in case anything jogs your memories.

It seems that the PS2 has the top quality (and quantity) of games this year:

          God of War
          PES5 (Winning Eleven 9)
          Guitar Hero
          Dragon Quest VIII
          Shadow of the Colossus
          Tekken 5
          Gran Turismo 4
          We Love Katamari
          Soul Calibur III
          Sly Cooper 3
          Devil May Cry 3

Whereas the Xbox and GameCube have been quite quiet this year from my point of perspective.

There are games like Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, Forza Motorsport, Psychonauts, Jade Empire, Oddworld Strangers Wrath and some (good) PC ports for the Xbox.

On the other hand, the GameCube has been quiet again with only Resident Evil 4 and Killer 7 from Capcom - both are acceptable classics - and a few ok-ish software from Nintendo like Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance, Donkey Konga: Jungle Beat and Battalion Wars.

I don't really 'get' the handheld scene so I won't bother writing up a list for them.

My two most played games are World of Warcraft and Battlefield 2, both on PC...about 70 hours for BF2 and the rest of the year for WoW. Didn't think WoW was that good, mind, it was just soooo addictive.

            BF2 for win.

I'd like to be more exciting, but Gran Turismo 4, (when played with the DFP FF wheel), is my GOTY. I've even built three steering wheel stands this year for me and my mates

SotC would be my 'gamier' GOTY.

RE4 for me. Colossus was certainly great but falls slightly short of RE due to it's clunky controls and terrible frame rate.

Format of the year though was easily the DS for me. I've yet to receive Animal Crossing in the mail, but even without it the quality has been astonishing.

I was looking forward to Killer 7 so much but for some reason I didn't really get along with it at all. Ouendan would be my GOTY.

It's a Capcom year for me, Killer 7 is going to narrowly edge Resident Evil 4 from my no.1 spot. Throw in DMC and a recent Rare game for sheer number of hours invested since it's release, leaves me with only one position

                      I hate top fives .......

It'll be interesting to see how the new format turns out, I've always enjoyed reading the previous GOTY features.

Not sure if I am missing something but why is MGS3: Snake Eater not on there?? That is in my top 2 for the year!!

The ending nearly had me in tears... NEARLY

And on top of that why is Killzone in the list, surely that's a couple of years old now?

Some aren't 2005 releases (Densetsu no Stafii is a 2002 game ). The list is just the games that were reviewed by NTSC-uk in 2005 so far.

Personally, I feel Snake Eater shouldn't be awarded this year for the fact it was in last year's awards.

I won't be stating my top five in this thread, but I'd say you weren't a million miles away from the truth.
