Gawd, I'm pissed off.

I musta have spent 3 years in preparation for this and this happens!

I've been wanting to play Dreamcast games in VGA mode for a while especially in tate mode. Due to the crapness of being so awkward to set up and having to faff about with the sound to get it working I've left it till now to sort out.

Firstly, I finally managed to get a decent-ish 19" HP L1925 TFT that pivots. Secondly I managed to aquire a very cheap ?10 Japanese Dreamcast. Thirdly, I got a speaker extention cable so I could plug it to my speaker cable without stretching.

At last, I finally got this all up and running BUT this happens.

My monitor only pivots 90 degrees to the right only and just as I was setting up Ikaruga in tate mode, I can ONLY play this if it was pivoted the other way! In other words, as I set it in TATE mode the screen is completely upside down!

I feel so pissed out at not being able to play shooters in normal TATE mode...
I'm sure I'm not the only other person that has has this problem before!

My Samsung Synchmaster is exactly the same, doesnt pivot the right way for me to play Tate.

someone said that their monitor could do some fancy tricks like flip the picture etc so it would end up the right way when pivoted, maybe your's can too? other than that, maybe a ??? scaler could manipulate/flip the picture?

Yeh, I'm sorry about finding this funny too, but it mirrors the kind of stupid crap that happens to me on a daily basis.

Dunno how helpful this is, but see if there are any screws attaching the screen and the pivot, that can be removed with 'relative ease' . That way, you could flip the screen yourself, so that it's attached upside down (when normal) but you can then pivot it to the right, and it works for Ikaruga.

Like someone said, you might be able to flip the pic too. Sorry if this isn't more help, I feel your pain

Have a look at the first post. It's the reason he put off doing it for so long. If he ends up having to play it the same way in the end, let's just say, I'd be a bit peeved off personally if that happened to me...............

lol that's funny. Seems like some folk just make it more complicated than it is though, huh? Just knock a CRT monitor over on its side, it'll work fine. Or go spend ?10 on a cheap pile of crap and do the same. My monitor is great 'cos the sides are nice and flat.
