Only tried the demo of MvC2, and then quickly deleted it. Was never a huge fan but might have still bought it if it was a nice port, but ****, it seems they've made little or no effort at all, and had the gall to charge 1200 for it. LMAO, no sale.

Playing it now with my nephew, the Snes version looks a lot better and still is, levels, the mode 7 extras and extra boss characters.

Still its keeping my nephew happy

I enjoyed playing Re-Shelled, it does a lot of things right when it comes to 3Ding an old school brawler. Animation (on the turtles especially) is really cool and I like the inclusion of the voices from the more recent Turtles series (different voice for each turtle too which was never present in the arcade/SNES version). The level design is very accurate and the sheer number of enemies on screen (especially in multiplayer) is far in excess of anything we got on the SNES.

Little toches that they've carried over too from the old game such as the flipping shadow of the boss of that level on each stage's splash screen is replicated does give the impression that the devs have put some effort in recreating this accurately.

Then you pay attention to the music and you can't help but feel deflated. It shouldn't affect things as much as it does, but the fact that the music is so poor really does take some appeal away from it. How we can go from the likes of:

Big Apple, 3AM

Alleycat Blues

Starbase -Where No Turtle has Gone Before-

To what is present in Re-Shelled? It's not just that they don't sound anything like the originals (I don't think it's fair to even refer to them as remixes), it's the fact that the music is just bad with no really energy to it. Slow and dull music is not good for a brawler.

It really is the only problem I have with the remake. It could be argued that the game is a little darker but I attribute that to the fact that the redesign is based around the new Turtles cartoons/movie which is a lot darker than the original 80s show.

The original Eastman and Laird comic books were really dark and uber violent - and they had white eyes...woooo, so I guess it's come full circle
