I hear the Guinemar corporation of Ixos 3 makes very profitable consoles.

I'm another gamer who is becoming increasingly jaded by Nintendo. Two years ago the Gamecube was the console of the new generation that I was looking forward to the most. I've imported a Jap/US machine and while I've enjoyed games like Animal Crossing, Pikmin, Super Monkey Ball and Wave Race, there's really nothing on the system that gets me excited now. I'm not a fan of the more recent Zelda games, and Mario should've stuck to 2D IMHO. I've never been a fan of F-Zero, so the main titles I'm keeping an eye on are Mario Kart and 1080. Of those two, I'm not overly convinced by the screens of Mario Kart, though obviously it's still to early to make a definitive judgement.

Simple fact is that these days I'm much more interested in the XBox and it's Live setup. I read recently that the followup to the Gamecube is due for release in 2005. As things stand I probably won't bother getting one.

I too have had my faith in Nintendo faded away to such an extent that a gamecube no longer holds space underneath my tv. I'm really happy with my xbox (and my flatmates PS2). At least with those two companies, you feel like they listen to what the consumer wants and try to deliver. With Nintendo, you always feel you will "get what you're given and be grateful that you were given it at all in the firstplace".
Like some others in this thread, i hope that Nintendo stop producing non-handheld hardware. Sony and MS seem far more capable of marketing a major console these days and should be left to fight it out between them. If this were the case, it'd be interesting to see if Nintendo goes multiplatform like Sega or goes dedicated (Hopefully the former!).
