    best co-op games...?

What are the most fun cooperative console games?
Try to stick to quite recent games (last two generations).

I had mad fun playing Starsky & Hutch on PS2 (pad and lightgun).

I also like beat'em ups like MK Shaolin Monks and Raging Blades (expecially the latter).

Another great game to play with friend(s) is X-Men Legends.

I'm a huge fan of shoot'em ups, but I like to play 'em alone.

The Warriors is absolutely fantastic in co-op. Requires loads of interaction between the players, and is an absolute riot to play.

Sniper Elite, but it's let down slightly for not letting the players walk very far from each other.

I always loved playing Contra 3 (aka Super Probotector) on the SNES with my mates.

Man, we got a lot of mileage out of that beauty. I used to cheat sometimes though, as I had one of those automatic pads (you know, where it presses the button for you, about 100 times a sec) and would flick on the switch for the button that changed weapons so that I could fire 2 weapons at once! That pissed off whoever was playing with me something chronic, heehee

            Memories....

I played that last night with my girlfriend. We played through the first level, completed it after some difficulty (my gf's rubbish bless her) and were then returned to the main menu instead of being moved onto the next stage. I thought that a bit odd and so checked the instruction manual. Turns out that you have to complete the stages in one player in order to play them in co-op. That to me is just daft and I can't understand the idea behind doing that. We were having such fun too

Better crack on with the one player quest I guess......

I nearly forgot the Ghost Recon games..!!!

kingmonkey - you mention that Kameo doen't let you play through on co-op alone... i hate that so much. Return to Castle Wolfenstein is the same... i just don't understand why they would do that. Sometimes i think people who don't play games get to make some important decisions around designing them. I bought RtCW purely for co-op, so errr.. never played it. <moan> Such a disappointment, but i don't want to have to play it through once first on single player - that takes the fun away on co-op if i know whats coming. Besides, i never replay games. </moan>

I want to say Secret of Mana before anyone else says it, even though I don't think so, just because I want to be a git

And talking of FPS, I really enjoyed Halo in co-op mode, especially the snowbound levels.

Double Dragon and Final Fight in the arcades.

                      4-player Turtles/Simpsons

Used to play a lot of 2-player Gauntlet 2 on the Speccy in bygone years.

Oh and playing 1 life/1 level on Super Mario World.

                              Wow, someone actually did that!
I thought that would go down as one of the great unused features in gaming.
