Ah, I have this trouble, but I found out Lego Star Wars is the perfect co-op game to play with your girlfriend (if you're into that kinda thing).

Its simple and its so hard to actually die!

Chaos Theory was one that stood out for me on the Xbox..myself and my mates spent hours/days on that game..so many ways to take down the enemies and complete the missions, graphics were also amazing which made the experience better, seriously looking forward to Double Agent in 3 months!

I played that last night with my girlfriend. We played through the first level, completed it after some difficulty (my gf's rubbish bless her) and were then returned to the main menu instead of being moved onto the next stage. I thought that a bit odd and so checked the instruction manual. Turns out that you have to complete the stages in one player in order to play them in co-op. That to me is just daft and I can't understand the idea behind doing that. We were having such fun too

Better crack on with the one player quest I guess......

Ah what about contra shattered soldier, me nad my mate use to hammer that game although he wasnt quite as good as me, but iirc you can't steal lives in this rendtion. Gradius V is also pretty sweet co-op; but the best has to go to D & D SOM or TOD, 4 player mode. Just outstanding!

Legend Of The Mystical Ninja on the SNES. The co-op made it my favourite game on the SNES.

2nd favourite would be Streets Of Rage 2 followed by Thundercross 2.

Although it's "only" a football game, but the ISS Pro and PES games have served me well for co-op over the last 9 years now! I think the series is even better when teamed with someone else and doing the league or cup competitions.

Splinter Cell versus mode obviously deserves a mention for innovation alone.
