    Tut tut Von Chumpy

Played 7 games tonight (as in grand prixs)
Lost the first on the final race
Had 5 games quit out on me as I was winning (some even on the first race)
on the 7th game they were noobs and stuck around (2 dropped on the last race) but one guy stayed and I got a win

1 WIN out of a possible 6 is just pathetic.

I wish there was a way that if you dropped from a game more than 3 times in 1 night, it locked your MK Account for 7 days or reset your score or something.

One guy had a crap score of 44 wins and 78 loses and still quit

    Pfff,
Shame MK Snes wasnt online, id of owned these disconnecting snake bitches

Blimey, this isn`t the get at VonManc thread. Unfortunately snaking is a part of MKDS and I think rjpageuk pretty much sumed up the argument

Edit- Just to clear summat up. I would agree in the fact that if I was playing a complete novice and I was snaking, that would be very sad indeed and nobody would enjoy or gain anything from the experience. I suppose if I look within myself I still consider snaking to the extreme to be immoral but, as it is a skill I have now and didn`t when I started, it is another weapon in my arsenal that I can draw upon if needed.

Rsdio I`m not and MP or even anyone important, so please curb you efforts and your need to try and discredit me. You have also taken my quote out of context

      Cheers! 8)

Haha, except my 'example' clearly wasn't meant to be taken absolutely literally, you goof-ball.

Have all the moaners even played a Mario Kart before? Actually don't answer that. Once again, boosting is not an exploit or a bug: it's Mario Kart since 1997.

Mario Kart has always been **** IMO, even on the SNES. I've never liked it from age 11.

Snaking in F-Zero did my head in big time though. It looks ****ing wack - imagine if EVERY game had a cheap means of victory, such as repeatedly ducking and jabbing in VF or something like that.

Imagine a game as deep as VF, I bet in the testing stages of VF1 you had all sorts of invincible techniques that looked really gay. With snaking it's as if one's been left in on purpose to make the game 'fun', which is what Nintendo are all about....

If it's there - exploit it for what it is. Glitches and bugs shouldn't be there. If they are, and are indeed intentional - then soz, but you're looking at a ****ty shallow game with **** technique.

If the non-snakers here are pissed off - sorry, but if you can't beat 'em - join the ****ers. That's what I say - as long as it doesn't knacker your DS.

Imagine if you could boost up to 2000mph on PGR3 by scraping the barriers at a perfect 45degree angle? HOW GOOD WOULD THAT BE!!!>>!>>!!???? PHWOAR!!! I should work at Bizarre Creations me, and be on ?44,500 a year for that idea.

What!? I dont remember that! I thought I had beaten all the staff ghosts on F-Zero too. That is taking the piss...

Mariokart 64 and Super Circuit aren't the same. 64 especially requires such a degree of turn that any boost of speed on straights is negated by having to snake to such a extent. If you're referring to the other glitches in the game though, then yes, they are just as bad.

Everyone should just acknowledge me and boycott Mario Kart - it's utter trouser with mud at the bottom.

I've never found anything remotely enjoyable about any Mario Kart game.

Spend time and money doing better things - like watercolours or cookery, or having sex with pro's.

funny thing is David, on the snes MK, these boosts wasnt around and I found it to be a lot more of a skillful game, now as long as you can snakeboost, your laughing.

Only other racers remotely close for enjoyment were Daytona and Original RR

Funny thing is, there were alot of things that weren`t around when you were playing SMK in 1992 including 3 more generations of games consoles. Things move on and regardless of what you could or couldn`t do back then, there are more versions of MK where you can snake and boost than versions where you can`t.

There is no argument here. If you can`t deal with snaking, boosting, disconnectors, whatever, maybe Mario Kart isn`t for you anymore or online console gaming in general for that matter.

You do however have choices, you can either, stop playing, blow the cobwebs off your SNES or get and emulator, learn to snake yourself or even agree the rules before you play when playing a friend.

Imagine if you could play MK64 online?? There would be tonnes of upset. Any MK64 vets will remember such classics as.......... hopping off the track on Rainbow Road and landing on the track below half way round course and the Princess Peach Circuit where you could turbo into the muddy bank near the river and Lakatu would plonk you at the top of the ramp miles away, happy days!

Or fix it by having a stat that logs how many times the player disconnected after 30 seconds had elapsed, to cover accidentals from mis-configs and missing player restarts, etc. Accidental disconnects by crashing wouldn't rack up that many but it'd catch out all the people who do it on purpose so if their record was 150 wins, 3 losses, 85 disconnects, you could tell who wasn't worth wasting your time on.

And I hardly think boosting, which is an intended feature of the game and requires skill, can be equated with F-Zero's snaking bug. I'm with VonManc here, it's a feature of the game, if you can't handle it without crying like a child when people use a perfectly fair technique, don't play the game.
When playing the mode in Halo where you have to attack only one certain person to get a point, I got sick and tired of people moaning about me having such a high kill rate because I'd kill whoever was around, my reasoning for this being self-defence. If someone's coming for you it's fairly likely you're their target, so what's the problem with defending yourself by killing them? Same thing really, it's not illegal or cheating to kill a non-target in that scenario, otherwise everyone but your target would have been made invincible.

It does look super-crap when you see some div hopping away into the distance. I just imagine the intense look on their face, followed by the intense pain in their fingers as I tootle round the course then take another sip of my beer.

my main gripe isnt the snakers tbh, it is the disconnecters, had 4 matches last night, 3 of em never got to the end cos of disconnecters, had one game, with phillai and the snake king vonmanc, he didnt snake 'much' and only just won through sheer luck on rainbow road.

Deffo replys on the menu soon von, was fun racing, still prefer playing phillia tho :P

Thinking about it, would it be possible to have a mario kart league ?

Say 20 people, 10 in each league, obviously need a league mod that each person pms or emails there results too

Depending on who plays, can even have a handicap system (Like making vonmanc use DonkeyKong or Peach) so they have more trouble snaking down the tracks.

Im I pissing in the wind or would anyone else be interested ?
