DS screen protector and touch screen question.

I just got my DS and was very happy with it until I noticed after having used the touch screen for 5 minutes it had already managed to become scratched.

Now, I'm not gonna storm back down to the shop and complain and get my money back then send Nintendo loads of hate mail for making a touch screen that gets scratched when you touch it with the stylis!, even if I do want too. But I am intrested in what screen protectors are avalible and if anyone can recommend a good one and where to get it from? becuase havent had much luck with a search on it.

    Thanks.

Don't use a screen protector on the touch screen. They really reduce the responsiveness of it. The screen is pretty tough though and most light scratches will come off if you rub the screen with a soft cloth (like a microfibre polishing cloth).

It actually says in the DS manual not to use screen protectors and I would certainly agree with that.

I've tried two screen protectors and took them off after 2 minutes, I just couldn't get them on without bubbles. Like you I also have one scratch from playing Polarium that just won't come out - it's annoying, but the screen's probably as scratch-resistant as they can make it.

People complaining because a screen designed to be scribbled on is being scratched? Fair enough it's a bit annoying but get used to the fact it's gonna get marked mate. Sending hate mail to nintendo? Sort it out.

I got this one. It comes with 2 units. I cocked up the first one with a bubble, which ruined the sensitivity. The second was fine with no bubbles. Each unit has 4 screens. Once 1 is rubbed to death, you just peel off the layer to reveal the next one. Each layer lasts me months, but I don't scrape the screen hard. I haven't noticed any drop in sensitivity compared to the not having it there, but as I said, it's perfect with no dust or bubbles.

Well yes I did realise sending hate mail would be drastic, hence why I havent done it. But anyway, my point was that if they are making a screen you touch reguarly then it should be as scratch resistant as possible, plus, its not like the end of the stylis is soft or anything, so maybe they didnt think it through as well as they could have. Anyway if screen protectors are that bad I suppose I'll have to make do then... Only trouble now is that the top screen just got a bright dead pixel in an annoying place!!ft:. So I might end up taking it back anyway if I can really be bothered.

            Thanks for the answers anyway.

Or, errrm, well maybe I'll order one of these then... and I'll try not to be my heavy handed self when I fix them to the screen.

And if nintendo dont want us using screen protectors, why is this one officialy licensed?

Look at the old DS accessories thread for my advice on how to apply these to avoid dust and that. Sorry, no time to find link. gotta go. laters

i used hori screen protectors and they were a pain in the arse, i removed the top one coz of the bubbles, but i kept teh bottom one, it works really well and seems to not affect responsiveness

If you take the screen protector off and try it again you will be amazed how much better it is.

                    I speak from experience.

The DS touch screen is not designed to be covered by anything.

Got to agree with Kotatsu on this point, I had a protector on mine and wasn't getting along with Ouendan at all, in my frustration I ripped it off and ta da! What a difference.

I think most people here like to keep their gaming stuff in immaculate condition, so it hurts a bit to see the screen get scratched. But in the case of the DS, I think we just have to accept the marks as the price of some excellent experiences ...

                            Go for some of these

                            http://proporta.co.uk/F02/PPF02P05.p...127&t_mode=des

I bought ones for my PDA from the same company and they are far far better than the ones that came with my PDA and similar ones you can buy for the DS.

No bubbles, really tough, removeable and reuseable
