I agree this stinks. I'm sort of surprised but not surprised. The lack of DS's in the last 2 months has led to a bit of a frenzy I guess but then again, it was announced around 2 months ago and no doubt Nintendo started production prior to that.

I fronted up for the PSP silly price at launch and have since sold, rebought and sold one. Won't be doing that again though and if I weren't in Japan during the middle of March, there's no way I'd be getting one with these inflated prices. It's almost two years old FFS!

Is this gonna be like the PSPs availability over the counter? I seem to remember reports of all the stores in big cities selling out but the smaller out-of-the-way towns had stock in.

Not surprising really. Though I find his assertion that the DS Lite will not be released in the US and Europe till Oct quite funny! AFAIK at least in the US, its rumored it will be released in May.

Will be interesting to see if some sucker actually places a bid...
