Help me get better at Pro Evo 5

I'm severely crap playing the PC version of PES5 online with people!

I need some tips! 2 things that spring to mind that I need to know fast...

What's the best all round formation?
How do you take free kicks properly?
Online opponants seem to be deadly accurate getting goals from free kicks...

    Help me out pretty please!

Forget about PRO EVO 5-you need to practice on Super Turbo!!

Seriously though: Is lag an issue on PC Pro Evo?

If it isn't, practice practice practice

You will soon find the best power level for a player when taking a kick (normally around half way on the guage)

Burrrrrn. He'll trot out some excuse about buttons not working or something

Best all round formation depends on how you want to play, innit. If you like crossing the ball you're going to want wingers. If you're a bundling-it-through-the-middle-of-the-park sort of person then you'll want lots of that. Personally I tend to favour 3-5-2 on footy games with a 3-4-3 tactical option coz it gives me the best of both with lots of players in the middle of the park as well as wingers and 3-4-3 allows an extra chappy up front if time's running out.

Pfft, my SF powers have not been weakened that much ya know...

PC PES5 is awesome, I don't notice any lag at all!

It keeps a really nice record of how manys wins you've won and puts you in a league according to how many wins you accumulate.

Sod this, I'm off to play it now!

Its important to focus on defence i think, i am always overjoyed when an opponent picks Real as any decent defensive team just batters them in the Midfeild.

          My Advice:
          1) Use Milan in their default formation (Move the front 2 if you like)
          2) Play 1 touch football with your midfeild, using your full backs as outlets
          3) Dont just keep knocking it up to the front 2 with no support, they will get swamped
          4) FOUL, if your opponent is looking dangerous anywhere near your goal, bring them down, if they get a yellow, sub them.

So that's where I'm going wrong! Before I always choose Arsenal but recently been using Real Madrid alot!

I don't have a speciality team but I notice alot of players choose Barcelona...

I've found that 4-4-2A is a decent balanced formation - quite a good balance in midfield, someone covering the back four and a bit of width for you to use as well.

There's quite a decent guide on freekicks here: http://www.pesfan.com/bulletin/showthread.php?t=83043

Practice a few of these and you'll find life a bit easier.

Barcelona are great going forward but are a bit gash defensively imo. Teams like Milan, Liverpool and Man United have decent defences as well as some punch going forward.

i tend to use that formation also. The thing with pro evo is that you just have to practice, and you will learn how to score and how to outplay the computer, myself i prefer to just attackk and try and score more goals than the computer. Free kicks you shouldn't worry about its always hard to score from them in pro evo games although this version is is slightly easier than in pro evo 4 (i only scored once from a free kick during all those months playing that game, and it took a horrible deflection also )

I'm really struggling with this at the moment, no matter how much posession i get, I just can't seem to create chances. At the other end I find it difficult to defend against the good old cross and header move while the central defenders seem to get pulled all over the place leaving a huge gap for the opponents to just march on through.

                      I'm crap too these days.

Find more fun baiting and fouling the Lobby 1 peons than playing serious games in the league.

Any of you guys play this online on the PC?

Maybe we can practice against each other...

If you want to get good at free kicks, take this advice:

If you're in the middle of the goal on the outside of the area (assuming you're using the DS2 - which if you aren't is your first mistake playing the games) aim the ball just to the right, or the left, of the goal if you're using a left or right footed kicker respectively. Pummel it so it's not going over (normally about half) then hold the left stick to the top left or top right if you're shooting to the right or left respectively.

Learn to run with the ball. It'll help you no end...
