Why? Becuase you only buy PAL, assuming that had EA not supported it it wouldn't be on this soil, or becuase you only buy EA?

Just VG+ it or summit if you have the facility. It's cheaper and less hassle.

some of us don't buy every single machine NTSC, I could not see the point in owning an imported PS2 because I rarely use it. It's great to see EA releasing this yes, but not because i only buy EA games what a ridiculous thing to say. It's hardly EA Sports is it now?

If EA hadn't supported then yeah it wouldnt be here which is why it's great to see that it is here.

My mate's shop got a fair few copies in and from what I understand it's been ticking over quite well. He sold a few on release day and since then there's been interest from people who've seen it running and played it in the shop. It's one of those games that needs to be pushed because people are going to walk right past it when it's next to the Need for Speeds and FIFAs unless you let them see it and know how good it is. Show someone that level where you go from 50cm to 500m and start picking up the major cities of the world and people can't fail to smile at it.

What does annoy me is the fact that it's a game that was released abroad months ago for a budget price ($29), but when it comes here far later they charge us ?40 for it. As great as the game is it's not going to have any chance at mainstream success at full price.

Nor will it have a chance with such a small printrun.

I was considering picking this up just to try and support it, despite having had the JPN release since launch, but it seems the fellow dorset-ers onboard have already snapped up every copy in sight... hopefully it won't be this bad come Friday for the SoTC boxset :/

Lots of competition for limited resources in Dorset, it seems. If I see anyone who can't get a copy of SOTC when I have mine I'll make sure to gloat that I've already finished the import and this one probably won't ever even be taken out of the box

Surely someone must have got their hands on a PAL copy and know?

That's what I was driving at - people walk into Game or whatever, they see this nestled between FIFA and NFS and they think, 'what the hell is that?' you have to WORK at it to understand it and for most people, that's far too much effort when there are easier alternatives on the shelf. I dare say they would enjoy it given the chance, but they don't go that far.

And I'm not trying to elevate people into a 'special' elite for liking stuff like this, I'm just saying that it is unusual (and statistically speaking at least, it is - just look at the top ten) to be willing to risk ?30-?40 on seeing what a weird-ass game like this is all about instead of moving along to something more readily accessible. I don't judge people for being like that, I totally understand it. I dare say I wouldn't have bought it myself if I hadn't heard about it on the net, magazines etc.

Managed to get my hands on a copy today, not seen more than 2 copies in any one shop though!

I've not played it, but it apparently doesn't have a 60hz mode. This combined with the US version being $30 and the total lack of UK stock meant I've ordered the import version instead.

The ?40 retailer price was to recoup on the low volume sales of a relatively high priced license (I doubt this was any less expensive to acquire than say SoulCalibur III or Ace Combat). The cheapest I've seen in high-street shops is ?37.99.

EA probably knew they would have made a loss by shipping millions of copies at the normal price point.

My girlfriend picked this up today in GAME and apparently the assistant said: "What's this, it looks ****. You can bring it back within 10 days if you like."

I didn't think you were supposed to say the word '****' to customers..

I failed miserably in my search for this day despite visiting 3 different Game stores.

What the hell is going on? Game need to promote this game in their stores so people who have never heard of it will give it a go, realise what an excellent game it is and start purchasing more games like it instead the mindless crap that gets rehashed each year.ft:

Dang. Y'know, I wanted to buy the PAL version and support it, I really did... but not for an inferior version.
