Guilty as sin here. I only had a Vic-20 when I was a kid, as my parents didn't want to have any "game machines" in the house, and it wasn't until I bought my own Genesis - around Sonic release - that I had a console.
Then I married a woman who was also a gamer.
Then we got into collecting old 2600 games because they were so cheap, and that lead to bad things...
Somehow we wound up with over 40 different consoles and old computers that we could buy games for, and collections of varying sizes for all of them.
The tipping point was when I was going through stuff and found a receipt for a Saturn game (Solar Eclipse, if anyone is curious), that I'd bought new for $60 + tax back in 1995... and that had never been finished or even played past the first level as far as I can recall.
This year has been the Year of eBay, and now we have a fair bit more closet space and the ratio of "stuff we'll actually play" to "stuff we own just because" is GREATLY improving.
