Your arcade has plants . We are lucky enough to find arcade cabinets in our places let alone nice plants.

Oh and the cabs look very nice too (especially F-Zero)

                Actually...

I will be doing a feature soon tentatively titled `a week in the life of a Japanese arcade gamer` soon, which will have some of my arcade anecdotes and stories.

I don't think a collection of photos of boarded up buildings would be overly popular

To accompany this thread I`d also like to explain how the card system on Evo works (and it is truly revolutionary).....

The great thing I love about the arcades here is that theres no barriers for total beginners to join in and start playing.

Most arcades have a stand-alone VF Evo cab for one player to practice his **** on- and this is where most beginners practice.

What is also completely God-like about Evo is the card system.

Each player has their own card and this displays their personal data- being the number of games played, number won/lost and their win rate, and well as their rank.

Basically, theres ****loads of ranks- about 30 in all (just like any other martial art), and to get to first dan you need a bit of experience first and to win a certain number of games (it doesn`t matter how many you lose).

Once you get to first dan, you then need to beat 3 players of the same rank to progress to second dan. If you lose a match it takes one away from your aggregate score, so you need to have an overall of +3 against fellow first dan players before gaining a 2nd dan rank. To get to 3rd dan, you need to beat 3 players of the 2nd dan rank. (I`m currently 2nd dan and I`m one win away from reaching 3rd dan).

You can also lose your rank by having an aggregate score of -3.

The great thing about the system is that you can pretty much see how good someone is by reading their rank, and therefore you can choose to challenge people of roughly your level.

This is a GREAT thing. Beginners can get on the cabs and people can see that they are beginners and therefore won`t challenge them. Other beginners however will challenge them, so the game works for all players of all ability ranges.

The matches between players of the same rank are truly intense because theres SO MUCH at stake. Lose too many and will be demoted by won rank, but get a few crucial wins in the bag and you will rise up the ranks.

There are often many spectators for the high-level ranking matches simply because the sickness on show is DISGUSTING and neither player is going to **** around.

Very nice pics. Liked the KOF2002 and the EGRET II cabs and of course the rows of EVOs. Still missing a Ketsui cab

The EVO card system sounds like a real killer (application)

Those pics are great Allan - the F-Zero machines are tops & I'm jealous

It's how I would imagine gamer heaven to look - a soothing voice speaks to you as you enter, saying 'Welcome - you'll be at home here.'
