Kage VS Lei-Fei on VF4, damn the hours spent between myself and best mate.

Now I don't want to start discussing the pro's and con's of 2D/3D fighters but YES VF really is that good.

For about a year not too long ago I would spend a significant part of my freetime practising on VF4. Why? A rival.

Well my best mate and I had always had a keen interest in fighters and were pretty good players but after a while you would work each other out, the matches would become stale and predictable. Maybe we had reached the limitations of that particular game's engine, maybe not.

Anyway VF4 and later iterations were different, our skills continually evolved with constant practise. The matches were unpredictable, you could change your tactics on the fly and see the results. Its a cliche but the game is so deep. A superb piece of software.

Street Turk spend a few weeks with it and come back and post your updated thoughts, it would be interesting eh?

Yes, Virtua Fighter really is that good especially VF Evo 4. It's right up there with Powerstone and Guilty Gear X2. What i like about Virtua Fighter is that although it's a 3D fighter it plays like a 2D one like Street Figther 2 before it. The game has a huge amount of depth and takes an age to master, it's not some button basher like Soul Calibur or Dead or Alive where you can press random buttons and your pulling off all these fancy moves. I hate that.

I will give it a look, but alas, the lack of a sparring partner takes the edge off it...

          Quest mode here i come!
