    Naruto (Gamecube) Discussion

For all of you who have this game, here's where you can talk about it ^_^

Thing with this game is, the combo's are so easy to pull off, so to get them to connect you have to be a little sneaky. Using the kawarimi is the easiest way to do this, to get behind them, but this uses up your Chakra, so we need to find alternative ways...

I've started to time the sidestep to perfection, and can just stand there and dodge nearly all attacks when they come, (except the underground ones) and then let off a massive combo

Also, Haku has a really nice move, by jumping in the air, and holding A, she can hold needles in the air until her chakra runs out. So move away, do this, and wait. The enemy will run towards you, as soon as they get past the needles, wait for them to lock on, let go of A, let the needles hit, and then let off a combo of your own, works 99% of the time!!

    I love this game

It's quite cool how well this game relates to the anime. For example Sakura is a pretty pants ninja but she is quite fast and uses her intelligence to be sneaky, which is done well in the game with her evil sidestep then behind attack move. I've only scratched the surface of the game, but i think Sakura is probably going to be the token 'looks rubbish but has the most depth' character.

I've been playing with Naruto mostly and he seems like a well rounded character if using his normal attacks but again, like the anime, his moves flow togethor well but without much thought as you can easily counter and sidestep him. His counter is very funny but is fairly dubious as to how effective it is, as you can easily sidestep it and it drains chakra for however long you use it. He has good combos but it can be hard to pull them off as they are easily dodged. For example the BBBBBB combo can easily be avoided on the last hit. I think BBBBBA is a bit better. Or if timed right DBAAA is pretty tasty.

I'm going to have to try that needle attack out with Haku.

One question, do you know if there's a way to make the opponent fight you in training mode. All i can get the opponent to do is stand still and block 100%, stand still and block nothing, or strangely, jump up and down on the spot.

Kei: Sharingan Kakashi and Nine Tails Naruto are also unlockable. Not sure how yet though..

The game should be arriving early next week. Having never seen the anime do you think I will still enjoy it?

I know its a bit of a pointless question considering I have already ordered it, but I will get the series as well if it will make it more fun.

Mate, you're gonna love this game! It's really, really fun. Unlike VF4e it really grabs you from the get-go, and you really dont have to have seen the anime to enjoy it, but it looks cooler if you have

You;re right about Sakura, she's definately one to watch out for. Naruto should be played with firstly though, since he's got a decent range of moves and fast enough, definately one for the learners. If only he shouted "Kage bunshin no Justu" though!

I've still not got Sharingan Kakashi, or Nine Tails Naruto yet, rumour has it that you need to get over 50 in Survival mode, no mean feat, I can only get up to 35! >_<

Are you sure he doesn't? I thought he did, i'll have to check again. I know Sasuke definetly says the words for Grand Fireball.

I think the game should appeal to anyone, but obviously more to anyone who's seen the anime. Just as long as you dont expect an in depth seriously tactic based fighter like VF4. It's kind of like F355 Challenge compared to Ridge Racer. F355 is very hard with a lot of depth, but still fun, and Ridge Racer is instantly accesible, nowhere near as much depth but still room to learn tactics and improve (perfect sliding for example).

Aye, that's a very good likeness, it's kinda like how Powerstone was really simple, yet there was a lot of room for getting better at it (although there's a lot more room in Naruto)

I think I'll get this one as I don't own a fighter, and it should compliment Evo whenever that comes out on PAL.
I've not seen the series, and will mostly be playing single player, so is it worth getting?

I adore the style I've seen in the trailers, so I may get it just for that

Does the game have any music from the series? I especially like the flute music with the guitars kicking in when asses start to get kicked.

Nah, although the music is relatively decent. And finishing the story mode actually gives you the proper anime ending (from the earlier episodes), albeit with slightly remixed music.

Pete, it's definately worth a pop, I just wish I had someone to challenge me on this

Got the game this morning and for the past hour and a half I have been like this = .

This game is great. The combos are dead easy to pull off but there are loads of counters and learning how to use your chakra is really interesting.

Would someone who knows about the anime please give me the names of all the characters on the selection screen from left to right along with their relationship in the anime (ie are they good or bad)? The game is great but if I knew a bit more about the background of the game it would be a big help.

Boogaloo I found one easy way to get behind enemies for maximum damage without using any chakra is by turning your back on your opponent and when they charge at you jump over their head. The you are facing their back straight away. I have only tried it on the default setting so on the harder setting you will probably get your ass kicked but it does work (well with Naruto at least).

                          The graphics are stunning.

With most of the other GameCube anime games coming to America (Zoids VS was recently confirmed!) do you think Naruto might do eventually?

Aye, I've managed that trick of jumping over their head, but mine's a little different...

If you end up facing the wrong way, dont bother turning around. Instead, wait for them to run at you. Then, double-jump over their head, and assuming you have a character which uses the Kunai (throwing knives) then you just let them have it in the back of the head. Don't use it too often mind, or else they'll bluff

As for characters, here goes. (This assumes you have unlocked Rock Lee, little man in green who looks strangely like Megaman)

Rock Lee, Zabuza, Iruka, Sakura, Naruto, Sasuke, Kakashi, Haku. I haven't got any of the special versions of the characters yet though.

                              Here's a quick plot rundown...

Naruto, sakura + sasuke have just passed through their Ninja training. Now they are put on different missions, with Kakashi as their 'jounin' (high level ninja, like a mentor to them). Iruka is Naruto's previous mentor, and helped him pass through his ninja training (since he's a complete fool in the series). However, in one mission, they are given the task of keeping a person who wants to create a bridge to increase the fortunes of his town safe, yet Haku and Kakashi are assigned to assasinate this man. Cue big long fight. And Rock Lee comes into it a little later, as he hears of Sasukes reputation as the number 1 ninja to have graduated from Ninja academy, and wants to challenge him. He's got incredible strength, yet very weak with his special abilities.

                              *phew* hope that made sense!
