I'm doing a profile at work of the home entertainment industry - I need the three biggest companies (in terms of revenues in 2005). EA I already have; I was thinking Ubisoft, Sony and Take Two as other possible contenders. I need a source confirming their position. Any ideas? Cheers for the help.

Couldnt find any lists or anything based on revenue, did find this though if it helps:
Game company market value as of Dec 2005
Microsoft - $288,386
Sony - $36,974
Vivendi Universal - $36,290
Nintendo - $18,565
Electronic Arts - $16,184
Sega Sammy - $10,544
Namco Bandai - $4,194
Activision - $3,599
Square Enix - $3,361
Konami - $2,989
Midway - $2,059
THQ - $1,489
Take Two - $1,276
Ubisoft - $943
SCi Eidos - $744
Capcom - $700
Atari - $154
Perhaps you could try visiting a site such a www.bloomberg.co.uk and looking up the information on each of the biggest companies seperately and then getting your three from that.

Those figures are in millions. They're the market caps of each of those firms so naturally Microsoft will be the biggest. You should ignore Microsoft, Sony and Vivendi unless they report seperate figures for their gaming divisions in their accounts.
It's very easy to get data for public companies - they'll all have a corporate website and there you should find pdf copies of their accounts.

Sadly, I work with financial data (very boring!)...
Using USD market cap figures as the basis of company value (shares outstanding x price close) - and only looking at companies classified (GICS) as 'Home Entertainment Software':
1 Nintendo
2 Electronic Arts
3 Konami
4 Activision
5 Square Enix
6 THQ
7 KOEI
8 GungHo Online
9 NCsoft
10 Take Two Interac
11 Shanda Inera
12 Midway
13 Ubisoft
14 Capcom
15 SCi
(based on worldwide)
