Virtua Cop 3 - A Disappointment?

So far the best gun for the Xbox is probably this. Let's face it -- it's designed upon an actual gun, one of the most popular in the world, so you know it's going to feel great.

Virtua Cop 3:16. Time Crisis 3 is great, but the king is back. I adore the intro to the first level especially; shooting out the bombs on the window and then that cutscene with Rage and Smarty smashing through makes my jaw drop every time.

... when you turn the corner in that level, and about 6 guys are waiting with riot sheilds, and you've got to shoot out the control panel to get the shutter down. I was playing with a friend the first time I did that, did the first panel, and then screwed up the second. In a panic, we hit the ES pedal, and shot all of the ****ers without 2 seconds of real-time. They all just hit the floor almost simulataniously.

I was just, like, "OMFG I LUV U AM2".

Yeah, that's the bit I mentioned in my original post. But I hit the pedal after they had fired and there were about about 20 bullets on screen. Took them all out. That's when i knew this was a great game

Light gun games have been really dissapointing recently (house of the dead 3 in particular). The maun reason is they don't add anything new.

I've always liked TC over VC and HOTD in the past cause you were always up against the clock and could duck to avoid bullets and hazards which creates better gameplay than having to shoot them before they shoot you. Two players helping each other out on separate screens is also alot better and tactical.

VC 3 however introduces better new features than the others. It looks great and importantly it plays a bit differently and has extra depth with the EMS feature. EMS is really well implemented along with the extra weapons. This feature just distinguishs it from other light gun games (a difficult feat these days).

Yeah but the BEST bit is on mission 3 (got with in 2credits!) basically its carnage...

You go through a sewer at the beginning to go into an airbase thats been taken over by the bad guys, in the sewers you have these drilling machines you have to take out on the EMS mode you shoot out 4 lights sheilded by the rotating blades.
Then its onwards onto the runways where you manage to jump into an truck with a bloody machine gun attached to it, you then race through the level where you have to take out helicopters and bad guys ahoy, the whole section is just explosions and bodies everywhere, died on what i assumed was the last boss a HUGE ED-209 style chaingun wielding mech piloted by the bad guy (forgot his name!) but then again the main characters said they thought he was dead. Had to try and take it out with me normal gun, fingers were sore and me ankle was pedal sore!

Love the fact you can change weapons mid game if you pick up a shotgun you can just switch back to your normal gun and keep the shotgun for the boss! Got the high score on the cabinet felt damn proud! Will check the score tomorrow and post it.

You can tell Sega have done something right when people are putting spoiler quotes for a LIGHT GUN GAME.

So many well thought out touches that you have to share them with other players yet don't want to hamper the first impressions of those yet to experience its brilliance.

The similarity to the Guncon2 is uncanny. Perhaps Sega are hinting at a PS2 conversion?

Or Namco responsible for the cabinet like they were with Vampire Night.

I dunno, a Chihiro to PS2 port would be ungodly... Much better for AM2 to quickly port it over to the Xbox for less cash, really.

All this talk has got me salivating, what's the best shooter for the Xbox? Or is house of the dead 3 the only one?
