What do you use your Xbox for?

Primarily, Im sure we all use the XBox to play its numerous games. However, there is so much more you can do with your box and I wondered what you use your console for mostly.

For me, I have a Slayer installed Xbox and 120GB drive. Ive transferred over 250 (Hip-Hop and R&B) music videos to it which I play through Xbox Media Player 2.4 to my plasma screen. The results are very impressive, more so than direct via my PC and Power DVD, and the interface is lovely also. Its the perfect video jukebox.

When Im not doing this, Ill be playing MP3s again through XMP 2.4 through my stereo, as this gives me a much better and stronger sound than my PC speakers.

Occasional emulators, although I tend to really put a game on just to remember what it was once like more than anything. Very few manage to hold my attention longer than 30 minutes, and its not long before I go back to playing Halo and so on. Final Burn is quite impressive, but I tend to play Shinobi more than any other retro title.

The other thing I like to do is set up custom soundtracks, absolutely brilliant when playing games like Burnout 2.

The Xbox has so much potential. It may not please Microsoft, but from a games and entertainment point of view the possibilities are countless.

What do you do on yours?

Mainly Xbox games and Mame, other roms too though. Use the No Dongle DVD function alot. XBMP 2.0 for MP3's and Divx, only got one Divx and about 30 MP3's though.

Primarily I use it as a media centre for all my DVDs I've ripped and encoded and dumped on the hard drive, along with a seperate folder for all my music videos. All my music is dumped on there as well. Emulation comes up next with Mario 64 being current game of choice thanks to Project64-X then I've got all my Xbox games stored on there for real gaming.

Well, literaly the only thing my XBox has been used for so far is Gun Valkyrie and Final Burn. I've had it about three or four months.

I'm currently toying with the idea of putting that media player and a film on disc to try it out.

Incidently, does anyone know if that Media Player will play .avi's with the xvid codec?

My green XBox is used as an ornament under my TV.

I switch it on occasionally for FB/MAME or to test a newly released game.

Hardly play the commercial games on it at all.

I just finished converting a DC arcade stick to an xbox crcade stick (well almost, need to buy a few a couple more buttons) which supports all buttons. So Ive sparked up mame again! And the region free dvd player gets a whirl now and again. And Soul Calibur 2 as well.

Rabasaurus - how hard is that to do... I'd love to be able to use my DC stick with MAME. That god-damned XBox pad (big or small) kills me with prolonged d-pad use and just isn't suited to MAME ft:

Watching movies/tv programs and playing emulated games on it.
Haven't played an XBox game for months (excluding demos).

I use it to hold down my house. I live in Tornado Alley, and it's getting to be that season again. Luckily the massive gravity field the Xbox creates helps to hold my house down, even in the face of nature's windy fury.

Mostly playing Ghouls & Ghosts and Project Gotham Racing.

Yes! PGR - My most disappointing launch game!

See, the reviews all got it wrong, the PR wanks Microsoft hired got it wrong (mate), the fanboys all got it wrong. Hell, even the name of the game gets it wrong.

It's not a racing game and that is it's main strength. It's not a GT3 beater, it's not a Ridge Racer V beater - it's not even trying to be - it's something completely different. Quite why all those tedious fanboys have to insist it is, is beyond me. They put me off the game because the racing mechanic is pure ****, but the actual driving challenge is good.

Before I was looking for something that wasn't there, when in actual fact it's something very special on a completely different level to all other driving games.
