    Emulation in Final Fight Streetwise

I've unlocked the original Final Fight in the PS2 version of Streetwise and, I may be going crazy but, I swear it isn't running the same version of Final Fight I used to play in the arcades.

It's been many years since I actually played the original coin-op so I may be wrong but the unlockable arcade game in Final Fight Streetwise seems very wrong. The sound effects and music are very jumpy and sound very poor whilst the graphics just look awful. All the sprites look like they were superimposed over the backgrounds and seem to be in a very poor resolution. There also seems to be a few frames of animation missing.

Has anyone else played this version? Am I right in thinking it's bad emulation or is my memory of the original game a little rose tinted.

Did you have to clock the game to unlock the original? You must have stamina, I couldnt keep playing that rubbish!

It unlocks after about an hour of play. I'm aiming to finish the game as I'm supposed to be reviewing it and have actually found myself enjoying it. I hate the sub-Rockstar gangsta vibe and can barely stomach the amount of gratutitous swearing but the combat is very nice, especially when you buy more moves. I now have a Flash Kick, Hurricane Kick and Fireball.

The game also gets a bit more interesting when Guy and Haggar put in an appearance. They fight side by side with you and teach you their own moves. Guy is especially well modelled and voiced just how I'd expect him.

Anyway, can anyone tell me any more about the emulation?

Not sure to be honest but you could try running Final Fight in MAME for a comparison?

I think I read somewhere that it was a terrible emulation of the original.

Yes Capcom didn't have access to the emulator used on the Classics pack at the time of working on Streetwise, hence the **** emulation.

Why not? You mean they worked on a game for well over a year and didn't have time to emulate a 16 yr old game properly?

The industry absolutely REEKS of laziness these days. Surely someone else notices this.

I was looking for a First Play thread for Streetwise but couldn't find one.
