I know, but we're talking about a wishlist here, not reality. I was hoping people would pull the stops out a bit more.

Guitar Freaks is great, but Guitar Hero has the licensed music thing, thus letting us have this discussion.

I'm sure many people have added what they think would suit guitar hero aswell as what they would like to be in it.

It would be great to have various genres represented in the game, but the guitar is fully utilized in rock/pop unlike some genres like hip hop, when the same guitar riff is repeatedly sampled / played or genres that have minimalist guitar parts like electro for example. You need to be entertained throughout the whole song and the way a typical rock/pop song is constructed with... verse, chorus, middle 8, solo, etc is totally necessary, although neo classical metal would be even better!

Maybe redoctane can release a keyboard or drum version like konami in japan. Both instruments would be perfect for multi-genres.

        - Practice Mode -
Whereby you can play any part of any song on repeat if you want to.

        - Better tutorials -
Specifically for Hammer On and Pull offs which was rather brief. An actual sequence for practicing techniques would be good. This is partly covered by above, but a tutorials would be better for beginners.

        - Difficulty settings -
Having the speed and note frequency of Hard or Expert, but only using 3 buttons might be good for people that cant coordinate the extra buttons. Ditto 5 buttons but easy note speed etc. Basically mix up buttons and note tracks.

        - 2 player difficulties -
Allowing each player to choose their own difficulty. Then one could play on Expert another on Easy, but together.

        - Note lists -
Relates to practice mode, so you can see how the songs are constructed. also veiwing the notes for a certain difficulty would be useful to see when Star Powers occour and mapping the best use.

And finally, and very improbable / unrealistic; scanning in your own songs off a CD and it will produce a tracklist for a difficulty you choose. This would of course all-but kill sequels, but that would be great for playing songs they choose not to include.
        o/\o

I dunno much, if any, RAWK but I'd like a bit of Prince. Reason I like GH so much now is it has some stuff that's at least familar to someone who doesn't 'do' rock (like me; I dunno 99% of the tracks you lot are posting ) and everyone has done air guitar at some point or other in their life.

I think if I was that bothered about missing out on some rock track, I'd go out and buy a real guitar

Okay, how about something off King Crimson's Discipline?
That's not even remotely out there...

On second thoughts, how good would a Guitar Hero/Freaks version of Stepmania be?
            Ker-azy possibilities!

I'd like it to be able to plug my nice wall display - ie Electric guitar - into the PS2 and have it teach me various tunes. I've spent several hours on the game and I'm sure I could have some result if I were doing it for real. The pull of scores and it being a game is greater than the hard slog of learning guitar for real.

It has to be possible. Develop something which I can learn and improve inside the game, but take the results directly into the real world.

Certainly quite a geeky suggestion compared to everyone else's, but I'd like to see some rock/metal interpretations of classic video game soundtracks similar to what the Minibosses and The Advantage offer.

Just imagine rocking out to Ridleys theme from the original Metroid or anything Doom related.

Lost Prophets - Shinobi vs dragon ninja
Guns n Roses - you could be mine
                        Libertines - Up the bracket

Hmph... as good (and totally geeky) as that sounds, is flies in the face of what the game is about. Has anyone ever played air guitar to the theme of... Metroid?

                            Which smiley is it...

I'll be very happy if Stairway to Heaven is in there. I doubt it will because an 8-minute opus that barely even changes the melody until the end isn't really designed to be played in a game ("7:30...oops, I ****ed up...back to the beginning..."), but it's one that I'd sit down and just play for fun every now and again.
