Anyone frequent Mill Hill Arcade in Leeds?

If you're from the Leeds area you'll know the one I mean. It's about 2 minutes walk from the train station.

Anyway, I went in today for the first time in a year and they've slightly expanded their coin-op section. There are a few new cabinets with pretty big screens and beautifully smooth joysticks.

Had to catch a train but I managed to spend 20 minutes sampling their latest additions. Had a few goes on Giga Wing 2 (one handed because the girlfriend phoned while I was playing) and tried out Demolish Fist (absolute ****).

It's great to finally have a few decent coin-ops round these parts again. Ok, so it's not a massive selection but it's nice to know that the scene hasn't completely died out.

ya, the boys that came over for my meet (where were you?) all wandered down and played for a bit, phillai knows the guy in charge and was asking what games to get (within reason obviously).

demolition fist is indeed utter ****e, did you play that bizzare 3d wrestling game? use the buttons for walking back/forward and the joystick for doing moves... my head nearly exploded trying to take it all in

also, samurai showdown 64 is piss poor.

    guilty gear xx however....................... AWESOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMME!!

I often miss meets, I'm a busy chap and I don't notice about 99% of things that are going on these days.

Only got to check out the two games that I mentioned but I'll be popping back in next week to try a few more games.

I wish there was a local arcade near me

The closest one is in Portsmouth or London both an Hour away. Still because of that Arcades still hold a special feeling to them as their so bloody hard to get to.

          Count yourselves lucky!

it wasn't very immediate... it was a nightmare trying to re-wire your brain on the fly in order to do anything.

That's the one. The new cabinets are very nice. As for the "Con-ass" shop. That was New Gen. It was a pile of crap in its day and I'm glad its no more.

I assume this is the same backalley where that Leeds United 'incident' occurred?! I'll have to have a look - the roster of coin ops it has sounds like it puts Blackpool to shame (Giga Wing 2!...)

I don't follow football. What happened?

Oh and they had Sega Tetris(!) too. I'll definately be popping back in to give that a spin.

Buriki One is easily the best HNG64 game, once you get your head around it.

It was a few years back when those Leeds players beat up that Asian student - I'm not sure if the assault took place in that exact area but I definitely heard he was chased down there. I think it was Lee Bowyer and that other guy who went to Newcastle (??? - I don't follow footy much either!)
