Things then got worse when the psp was finally released & these new owners proclaimed nintendo doomed with their gimmicky crap handheld. Apparently sony could do no wrong & was hailed as the next coming.

Now zoom forward to now & well look at that nintendo is still around & looks like the ds is still selling.

Its the arrogance of some of the people on here that pissed me off more than sony ever did. Oh how i remember band brothers coming out & how people just slagged it off, the only time these people had even seen it was on some very poor quality video yet they went ahead anyway proclaiming that if it had been on psp it would have had a full orchestral soundtrack instead ofthe ****ty midis that the ds verison uses.

    Anyway rant over (^_^)
I missed all the initial DS vs PSP build up before there release (Thank God) but how long ago was it a Year, 18 Months isn't it time for all the fanboys to grow up, let it go and act their age but I guess thats asking to much isn't it.

Remember? How could you possibly forget? It's brought up more often than the 1966 world cup.

Yeah it depends where u are really, in the UK (PSPs strongest territory afaik) PSP software sales are far better than the DS, hardware sells better too, I think the DS's 5 best selling games in Japan have shifted more units than the entire PSP catalogue in Japan tho.

Was closer to 9 million world wide when they stopped manufacturing it, prolly about 10-11 million world wide once every unit was sold. slightly more than the Sega Saturn but not much. The Xbox and Gamecube havn't shifted 30 million yet (and probably won't) they're both just above 20 million.

Surely the Xbox and GC are proof that hardware sales don't = the full picture though, The Xbox is seen as a far more successful console than the gamecube purely because software ratios are far better per console making more money for stores etc and thus giving them a larger store presence. Retailers make very little on actual hardware.

I really wish i hadnt experienced it either, but im now scarred for life

It's nice watching all those people now eat humble pie.

As for the anti sony vibe. People are starting to get tired of their arrogance. Remember the faulty square buttion fiasco and sonys attitude.

I consider the Xbox a more succesful console than the Gamecube purely because of the position they've gotten to, in a generation where Sony controls most of the market and developers. Microsoft came in with nothing with the sony mocking them, the media laughing at them and some hating them purely because their Microsoft. If you look at them now they've got a solid first party line up, good relationships with many popular and big third party deveopers who are making games for their system and they've got a pretty big fanbase.

What has this got to do with sale figures? Not much.

Nice to know i'm not the only one as I've said I agree with you on sony's arrogance its really is not up for discussion it's their for all to see. My original post wasn't directed at you I don't consider you to be a fanboy you don't troll threads or get all catty when nintendo get abit of flack you love Nintendo but don't let it get in the way of enjoying other firms systems (JP PsOne in your case) I was talking about a certain group of individuals who always go on and on about this stuff and are starting to sound like broken records. I love Nintendo but can do it with being a foaming at the mouth fanboy unlike certain people.

Yeah ps one to me is the generation where sony was on fire, theres so many weird & wonderful games, that im having a blast trying to track them down.

I try to curb my fanboyish tendancies, but sometimes its so hard

There's no question that Sony can be incredably arrogrant, the PS3's price & general wallyness of their hardware are proff of this! But it seems unfair that in my experiance of this forum this is the first console ever made where a majority of people are glad it has poorer sales.

Everything deserves a chance & if the developers harness the PSP's qualities such as it's massive storage space, huge widescreen & wireless capabalities then we could encouter some truly brillant games.

The Dreamcast & NGPC are two of my favourite consoles ever made & sadly had a short shelf life. I wouldent swap it's small fanbase & brillant games for mass suceuss as it produced some of the finest SEGA 3D games ever made.

Don't forget to add to your list an approximately $4.5 billion dollar black hole in Microsoft's accounting books, growing larger by the quarter.

Rememeber that amount is nothing to MS and they are now in a good position in the marketplace. The 360 is doing better and better and will continue to i dont see it making a lose like the original did.

Just to get back to sales figures for a sec, apparently New Super mario Bros sold 480,000 copies on day 1 of Japanese release, which eclipses the previous best first day seller Brain Training which sold 414,556 - click
