You can get rgb via component thats how i have it on my cube.

My tv had component inputs but dosent have progressive scan so my cube is just using the interlace mode on the component cable giving me the same quality as rgb.

As for scart cables, who knows. Maybe NOE will supply them but i wouldnt know as i dont use scarts on my tv even though it has 3 of them

      Rgb is better quality...

Better than Component? Non msieur. Only if the TV does a cack-handed job of handling the Component signal...

Don't get me started. My HDTV has 2 of those useless connections and only 1 Component and 1 HDMI

I always thought that component was compressed/encoded RGB?

I guess there is a bit of a shift in all the RGB/ whatever now since LCD displays aren't created from a matrix of phosphor pixels

Need to start saving for a component splitter....

I just knew someone would come out with that (^_^)

On my tv there is no noitcable difference in using component over rgb scart. in both cases i get a super clear & sharp picture.

Hell even using svideo gives me a very good picture.

I've been playing my Cube in RGB today on my little 14" Sony CRT and the quality is bang on, much better than component through the projector.

The 360 looks **** in component also, compared to VGA. I've yet to see anything component on an LCD screen however as my Dell LCD only takes VGA and HDi.

I hope we see a VGA lead for the Wii as it's the only HD connection I trust.

I think encoded would be the best way to put it, yeah, but it's lossless. The TV calculates back all of the data that isn't sent.

I use the Cube on RGB for CRT's and but component on the LCD, the RGB looks a bit messy on the LCD.

Bah I can't believe it will really have region locking. Another mark against it. Nintendo are certainly milking the enthusiasm they have created for all it is worth.

And not including a decent component or whatever cable either.

It's put me off enough to go GC for a while. That will see me through until the Wii clouds part.

it's a very confusing area at the moment, Nintendo usa are saying yes it's region free, Nintendo UK are saying no it's not region free (so people go for uk launch)

I've been trying to decide what region to buy the console in. My initial thoughts was to go for a Jap one for all those quirky titles the DS is great for, but I dont think I can be bothered these days with all the Japanese text.

UK one will be easier for me to get, 100% net compatable, and a lot of cheap games from second hand market. If it wasn't for the expense and NOE handling the product and games it would be the sensible choice.

I'm confident I can get an American console through old contacts at my workplace, but it means importing everything and praying online works fine and with UK machines.

The sensible choice would be to wait for the dust to settle, see exactly what works with what and make a properly informed choice. But my impatience has made it impossible for people who know me to describe me as sensible.

Answer seems to be USA one for launch, a UK one in the summer next year (during summer game drought lots of second hand consoles will be available no doubt) and a possable Jap one a few years down the line if I still want one with a collection of those quirky Jap exclusives. Expensive to buy all three and may stick with just US version if everything works out but its a plan.

Come on, did you *really*expect it would be region free? Has the last 20 years of Nintendo home consoles not been enough to show how they operate? Nintendo have always had a clear distinction between systems that are portable and region free, and those which are not.

It's a shame Nintendo US seem to have made a bit of a blunder with this issue I admit, but to go off on one ranting about how bad Nintendo are seems nuts to me.

As for the component cable, the system is aimed at the mass market who have SD TVs, so they will not have any interest in a component cable. (probably won't even know what one is) Just buy a component cable at launch, I'm sure it won't break the bank and you'll forget all about it once you slide the Zelda disc into the slot.

I never owned a Nintendo system before the GameCube, so lets just say I am getting up to speed on their attitude to Europe. I still haven't given up hope totally, but in any case I will wait for the dust to settle rather than being there on release date.
I'm not saying that N are bad, but they don't seem to be going the extra mile to make ME happy.

I wouldn't listen much to nintendo UK. Remember when they said there was no DS redisgn the day before the DS Lite was announced? They don't have a clue half the time. I say they're just scare-mongering to discourage people from importing.
