    The Gamecube

I felt like I could actually put this in the retro thread already since I feel that the GC is practically gone like the DC, although you could find the system in stores (I guess).

I've been playing Super Mario Sunshine for a bit now these couple of days and I'm just amazed at how well it plays and how great the graphics are. I played this game when I got it in 2003 but my brother deleted the saves so I didn't have the gall to begin it again until now. After playing some GC games like Ikaruga and SMS I just can't help to realize how much better the graphics are compared to the PS2 and the controller is infinitely better then the Dual Shock. I never was under the impression that the GC tanked, at least monetarily, but it was never the hit it should've been, just like the Dreamcast... Why the hell is that? The low-capacity media? While I have much more games for the PS2 because of some of the games that I just must have I just feel that the GC handles better. It has virtually non-existent load times and the graphics, while not that important to me, look smoother like Metroid Prime or Wind Waker. I'd like to get my hands on some of the GC games I missed. I don't have many so I'll list all mine here (I have a US Cube and all my games are US versions except for some JP ones):

Skies of Arcadia Legends (Almost completed the game but got Wind Waker and never finished it.)
    Ikaruga (Awesome.)
Starfox Adventures (Haven't played much... Got it cheap.)
Soul Calibur 2 (Played this a lot.)
Viewtiful Joe (I just think this game is really difficult... Always have problems with the helicopter boss... Never beat this either.)
Metroid Prime/2: Echoes (Both awesome FPS games.)
    Zelda: Wind Waker
Zelda: Ocarina of Time (Bonus Disk)
Tales of Symphonia (US and JP... Played both until "death".)
Mega Man Anniversary Collection (PS2 version much better because of the button layout.)
FF: Crystal Chronicles (JP, I don't know why I got this)
Naruto Gekitou Ninja Taisen 4 (cool game, nicely paced action)
    Smash Brothers DX (JP)
    Super Mario Sunshine

Anyway, I'm missing some like RE4 and probably Twin Snakes. Which games should I try to check out? Are there any JP exclusives?

Resi 4 is essential, go for that.

    Also, you NEED Killer7.

How about you put some more time into Viewtiful Joe before you go looking for other games - its a CRIME to let that pussy helicopter beat you!!!

Then maybe you will be ready for Killer7.

I'm in the same boat as you danholo. Revisted my dusty and unplayed GC last week due to my ongoing 360 repair saga (see the thread!!) but after playing RE4 - WOW! Seriously loving the game and reminding more and more of condemmed - one of my fav games of the last few years.
Gonna buy monkey ball again and some other old ones - maybe smash bros melee and soul caliber 2......loving the cube again man !!!

I also started replaying SMS last week after a third party memory card related incident stunted my progress a year or so ago (also lost 25% complete Prime save. Never got back to it).

Really holds up well for me. Never did manage that brushing the eels teeth shine (mutter mutter...)

I'll second Resident Evil 4 and Killer 7, they were developed for the system.

                    Other games to check out:

Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg: I loved it, but not everyone does.

Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door: One of the best games on the system, hugely underrated.

Pikmin: Both games are essential, although the second is better.

P.N. 03: Difficult, but if you stick with it, it's a great game. One of the original Capcom 5 for the system.

                    Doshin the Giant: Awesome.

There's loads others, like the Metroid games, Chibi-Robo, Mario Kart and Soul Calibur II with Link. One of my favourite consoles.

RE4 is GOTY 2005, no doubt.

Agreed, I'd even go as far as to say that it is one of the best games I've ever played.

It's the Resident Evil 1 remake for the gamecube.

Resident 1, 0 and 4 are all worth getting. Graphics-wise they're all still very impressive and RE4 is still one of my most-played GC games.

Although I think the hardware is really neat and the video output quality is great, I didn't like the Cube too much. But I still preferred it over any other home console this generation. Best of a bad bunch if you ask me.
