    another Acclaim wonder

Acclaim announces that it plans to use spray-painted homing pigeons to advertise Virtua Tennis 2 at this year's Wimbledon tournament.

Acclaim Entertainment, which last year saw fit to advertise ShadowMan: 2econd Coming on gravestones in the UK, has today announced that it plans to employ homing pigeons sporting Virtua Tennis 2 logos to advertise the game at this year's Wimbledon tournament. According to today's press release, around 20 pigeons branded with a Virtua Tennis 2 logo on each wing using a harmless water-based paint have been trained to fly in and out of the home of British tennis during the competition, the final stages of which will be played between June 23 and July 6.

"The Virtua Tennis 2 pigeon marketing campaign is highly targeted as it brings awareness of the game directly to tennis enthusiasts," said Larry Sparks, VP of marketing international at Acclaim. "The Wimbledon tournament is famous for the occasional descent by pigeons onto center court, but our advertising pigeons are trained to go straight for the fans and flap their logos in front of them."

The head of Acclaim marketing must be killed if we are to be saved from their ridiculous ploys.

Why don't they hire the Turok dork to queue for that game...

So when the pigeon flies into a 130mph serve and gets nailed against the wall, it won't be so virtual for that poor bird.

Why does europe have to suffer at the hands of acclaims marketing department. I was reading an american article (think it was on Gamespy) And theyre shocked over there at how daft Acclaims european marketing really is.
I realy just dont understand what some people are thinking when they come up with these ideas.

I think when Acclaim makes a new game, we all suffer equally.

Seems painfully simple really, they don't have the talent or determination to come up with an original campaign through conventional means so they resort to the advertising equivalent of a freak-show at the old style Circuses, not worrying if 95% of people think the lastest campaign is a bunch of tasteless, insultingly brain-dead arse - as at least then they're looking at the campaign and, in Acclaim's eyes, all publicity must be good publicity.

                      How very wrong they are.

Acclaim are getting way too much stick from you bandwagon jumpers. To be honest I think their advertising campaigns in the last yea rmight have sometimes been bad taste - But they have been the most inventive campaigns ever. If they sort their line up out too then that'll give them 2 points on the board.

Seems pretty tame for an Acclaim PR stunt.

                          By their standards.
