Just wondering if that was the same sort of yellowing you get on a snes, if so I'd love to know how you did it.

exfoliating hand scrub my brother... get some! (failing that some regular liquid soap and some sugar, yes sugar in your hands then wash) also perhaps open a window and take a break every hour or so, those are some majorly sweaty mitts!!

There's nothing worse than someone else's controller jam

I bought this secondhand Xbox the other week from an online auction. When it arrived I looked at the date of manufacture and figured it was likely a v1.0 model which have the whiney GPU fan. Powered it up and sure enough...so I whipped the lid off to get down to the business of replacing it and what do I find....

The insides were caked in dust. I've got other Xboxs that are the same age as this one and neither of them have remotely anywhere near that amount of dust in them (picture doesn't convey how truely bad it was).
This was supposedly (according to the seller of course) an Xbox that had "had little use". Well judging by this gunk and the 47 gamesaves on the hard drive, I'd say I've been had. Hopefully I have now added a couple more years to its undoubtled shortened life.

If anyone has access to AF products - Foamclene is great on grubby plastic.

i'll spend ten minutes in a shop deciding between two diffrent copies of a secondhand game - looking at each one in detail, checking for marks on the case or that gunk that previous stickers leave behind - now that i have a PS2, i avoid picking up some of the cheap, older games as they are in some of the worst conditions known to man or beast.
