At first yeah, but only because I was used to playing it on a keyboard - I think the rotation (left and right) are a bit slow which made for some interesting dog fights when I first started. I skip through the menu really quicky now, I think the control method was translated really well.

When I stumbled across some thargoids in witch space it took me back to the day. I almost cried with joy, before weeping with sadness as they destroyed me and I realised I hadn't saved for ages ft: .

If I hadn't bought those damn slaves I could have afforded those sexy military lasers. Grr I would have shown them

Does noone play the old Atari anymore? (Although since I found the Activision Anthology for the PS2 I have no need to pull out the old woodgrain console.)

        1. Which retro consoles (Pre 32-bit) do you own? (Don't need to list them all if you have loads, just the stand-outs).

        5. Have you bought anything retro in the last few days? If so, what is it? Was it from a boot sale?

Mastersystem, Megadrive, NES, SNES, Virtual Boy, Multimega, PCEngine + Variants, Neogeo AES, NeoGeo CD, Lynx, Gamegear, Gameboy + variants, Wonderswan Colour, NGPC, Atari 2600 - they all stand out!....maybe not so much with the Virtual Boy.

                  2. Do you still play on them?
                  All the time!

                  3. Do you scan eBay regularly for retro gear?
Yes, kinda sad but it's hobby o' mine

                  4. What's the most you've spent on a retro game or hardware?
Probably ?220 on Metal Slug 3 is the most I've spent on an individual item, while it was considered as retro. When the SNES first came out I forked out ?299 for it with MarioWorld and F-Zero, but I guess that doesn't count.

                  5. Have you bought anything retro in the last few days? If so, what is it? Was it from a boot sale?
I'm one of these people that have absolutely no luck at bootsales. I purchased Casino Games for the Mastersystem a couple of days ago from Gamestation.

                    1. Nes, Snes, MD, Neo Geo CD, + Jap Saturn recently purchased !

                    2. Play them plenty, though i have a bit of an addiction to PS2 Pro Evolution Soccer at the mo... Master League is too much fun, buying players etc. Currently playing Radiant Silvergun loads (as bought with Jap Saturn!)

                    3. I Look through ebay Snes and Saturn listings once or twice a week

                    4. Most spent is the aforementioned Jap Saturn and Radiant Silvergun. ?240 all in. Probably paid a bit over the odds but I knew it was all going to be minty, so didn't relly have a problem with it.
(explaining to missus was where the trouble lay however... "You paid HOW MUCH ?!?!?!?! For ONE GAME !?!?!?!" etc etc )

                    5. Never ever picked up anything in a car boot sale - likely due to severe problems with acknowledging the existence of Sundays beginning before 2pm! However, most recently bought and waiting to be delivered is DoDonpachi and Pocket Fighters for Jap Saturn.

Standouts include - Commodore SX64, NEC Turbo Express, PC Engine Duo, Sega Multimega, Virtual Boy.

I used to murder Ebay for retro stuff all the time, but now I'm playing more next-gen stuff, I don't buy quite so much retro gear. Besides, I've got enough to keep me going for a lifetime. I picked up most of my 150+ Atari 2600 collection last year from a shop that seemed to have an endless supply of carts for ?1 each. Some nice ones too That particular source has run dry now, but it was good while it lasted.

I don't play my retro collection as much as I used to. The Gamecube is doing it for me right now, though I still find time for the occasional retro blast. Current pick - Galaga 88 (PC Engine), Puyo Puyo Sun (Saturn), Puyo Pop (NGPC), Bomberman 4 (SNES). I was also rather taken aback to find that Pocahontas (Megadrive) is something of a gem. Honestly, try it. As well as being a very entertaining platformer, they've thrown some nice original ideas in the mix, and the visuals are stunning. Go on try it. Just make sure nobody sees

I try to get to my local boot sale every month, but retro stuff is definitely becoming more and more scarce.

I'm never that lucky at boot sales, but I have a friend who bought a fully working Vectrex last year for a fiver. I've had some decent bargains, but nothing like that. My most memorable was getting about 40-50 Commodore 64 and Amiga games (mostly C64, all on disk) for a tenner. Getting it home was a bit of a problem, but it was worth it.

For the record, my wife, kids and friends all think I'm nuts playing these ancient systems. One day they'll understand. Perhaps.

                      Jay

                        Sega Megadrive,SNES (60hz switched)

                        2. Do you still play on them?

Whenever i find a bargin (usually daily!!) its home to play it on the MD/SNES after work, usualy to re-live some true memories of games of olde.

                        3. Do you scan eBay regularly for retro gear?

Usually just to grasp the prices, got the perfect job in an indie game store to stop me from buying stuff from ebay and it worked!

                        4. What's the most you've spent on a retro game or hardware?

65quid on boxed SNES and 17 games (mixture of jap/usa/pal) no one ever believes me when i tell them the 17 games...until i pull out my magic reciept that says Secret of Mana (boxed with map/inst) 4quid that says it all

                        5. Have you bought anything retro in the last few days? If so, what is it? Was it from a boot sale?

Dynamite Headdy (boxed with inst) on MD 5quid and Story of Thor 4quid (boxed with inst even had the smoking who needs it? knuckles sticker on it!!) both in a 2nd hand shop! HUGE bargains to be found in there including boxed mega cd 2 15quid
