That was magicland dizzy with the notes above his head from the walkman. Funny how the humble speccy version had it but most of the other compuer versions like the amiga cut it out.

Treasure island was hard because you only had one life, there were many times where i was nearly at the end but i misjumped into a torch or fell in the water.

I still play the dizzy games from time to time (in emulated form sadly), they may be old & basic looking but i still find them immense fun.

I'm thinking of getting Persona 2. Can anyone give me more info on the game. Is it worth 50 or so hours of my life?

It's hard to define Cult as those games tend to get picked up by the faithfull and although they arent picked up by the public, we tend to put out word of mouth and they become more succesfull.

But their are those which are recognised but dont have such a fanbase. Strangley I love the below:

P.N.03: What started out as disapoitment between me and my brother on day one became obsession on the weekend. I hate Ikaruga, R-Type and the like but this, this is something else. It's difficult, beautiful and so, so playable. The only game I played from beginning to end in time attack fashion on Hard mode... With no continues... In under 2 hours. Magnifiance.

Killer7: The most artistic, hard to pin down and adult game ever made. You'll never play a game like it.

Yeah its Japanese an SRPG. Its got quite a decent following amongs the ladies in Japan. Its made the same people who make Summon night. Which is another cult game along with the Idea Factory neverland games. Generation of chaos and Spectral force. Just steer clear of Black matrix 2 on PS2. The 2004 Psone game is class.

I agree with above a its a bit of a funny topic really because there are way to many niches for someone to just come along and say 'well this one is worth going into the list and this wasnt'. Its all opinion surely?

Spikeout (xbox): Overlooked, ripped to shreds by the media, not bought by the punters, but I think it's ace.

Captain Commando (arcade/ps1/super famicom): Capcom scrolling beat 'em up with crazy characters.

World Heroes 2 (arcade/neogeo/snes): Fantastic street fighter alike with a shark throwing pirate.

PSI ops (Xbox/ps2): Violent uri geller 'em up!

Total Overdose (xbox/ps2): Ignore the snobby media. Max Payne meets desparado in a gta game. Fantastic fun.

Crimson Tears (ps2): Cel shaded beat 'em up role playing hybrid from capcom.

Blood Will Tell (ps2): Hack in slash action with added bonus of rocket launcher in leg.

Rival Schools (ps1): Even today still plays well. High school beat 'em up, much like street fighter 2 in 3d wearing a gymslip.

Arc: Twilight of the Spirits - brilliant brilliant RPG, cool battles, no-one's played it.
                            Ys: The Ark of Napishtim

No probs it definitely fits the bill as a cult game. Monopoly style board game with cards, strategy and classic RPG monsters and used to have huge tournaments in Japan. The new 360 version they've got coming out will be excellent with online play.
