PSP 1.5 to 1.0 downdater released

This should begin to show up on pspupdates and psp-news sites soon (the website it currently resides on as some iso psp tools on it so I won't link), but a PSP downgrader has been released that allows you to downgrade 1.0 firmware. Pretty pointless I think but it should in theory lead to custom firmwares as it is based on the 2.5/6 to 1.5 firmware downgrader.

Hmmm...I thought there was a 1.5 to 1.0 downgrader a long time ago.

In general, 1.0 is much better from homebrew and emulators in that it doesn't need multiple files. Given their rarity, much development has been for 1.5. But, if everyone with 1.5 downgraded to 1.0, we'd all have easier homebrew.

There was a downgrader for people who already had 1.0 firmware as it used to restore their settings to rollback to 1.0.

Ah, that must have been what I was thinking of - my PSP was once a 1.0.

An awful lot of homebrew requires 1.5 modules anyway though, so I wouldn't recommend applying this.

Supposedly the main thing about going back to 1.0 firmware is the ability to install custom firmwares, once someone actually makes one.

My PSP is still 1.0 and I modify homebrew written for 1.5's using PSP BREW and in most cases it works, the only problems are with WIFI utilising homebrew.

Kind of related - they've managed to decrypt the 2.71 firmware. This in theory should mean that devhook will be able to load 2.71 firmware allowing people to play all UMD games (fingers crossed outrun).

I was still at 1.0 until last week, but finally wanted to have a look at some other games (mainly loco-roco) so went though the hell that was backing up the 1.0 firmware, upgrading then going though every emulator and changing it to the dual folder 1.5 complient structure.

Did wonder why this was released, but the idea of a custom firmware sounds tempting.
