    DS Must-Have Titles

Ok apologies if this has already been done but after conducting a search couldn't find anything.

Some games I can think of off the top of my head.

    Mario Kart DS
    Super Mario 64 DS
    Sonic Rush
    Castlevania
Mario and Luigi: Partners In Time

I'm sure there are loads more quality rpgs and action games out there too. Anyone?

Osu! Ottake! Ouendan! (Sp?) - Critical Japanese Import.... NEED this or you may as well
not have a DS, the language barrier is not a problem.

animal crossing DS - if your into it it's good fun
metroid hunters ds - A fun fps type game with a reasonable single player and online brilliant multiplayer

I'm not sure I would class Sonic Rush as a 'must have' title. I would replace that with Kirby.

              I'd be inclined to agree.

It's quite flawed for sure. The number of instant death drops is inexcusable for a modern game.

New Super Bros is the definitive platformer on DS, and I suspect will remain so for a long time to come. (perhaps even for the lifetime of the system).

Sonic Rush did my head it if only for the 'drops of doom' - You basically have to pre-learn levels to avoid those pitfalls, unacceptable! There are falls in New Mario Bros but I always pre-empted them (and then stupidly fell into them through my own fault!)

I found sonic rush well dull to play certainly not worth the Full RRP.

And yet another person who didn't think Sonic Rush was up to much. Can't argue with New Super Mario Bros though. That and OUENDAAAAAANNNNNNN!!!!! need to be on any DS must have list.

Sonic Rush isn't as good as the Sonic Advance titles but is worth picking up for some Sonic action just because it is dirt cheap everywhere and isn't that bad really. Instead of listing games to get, popular choices that I would avoid are:

Tetris DS - Awful. Infinite spin, pointless Mario stylings, horrendous colour scheme, broken scoring system. Really really bad and on a level with the THQ Tetris disasters.

Kirby DS - Fun for a few minutes thens get repetitive very quickly. Nice enough but nothing to write home about.

Super Princess Peach - If it wasn't for the Peach stylings this game would be rightly disregarded as the just plain dull platformer is really is. Avoid.

I thought Sonic Rush was terrible, it has the distict honour of being the only sonic game i dont like except Sonic heros and advance 3 (and riders if that counts)

I'd prefer an NTSC-J exclusive DS recommendations thread, I mean most people can go to metacritic, gamerankings and these very forums to find out what's hot western styleeee for the NDS.

No one seems to be recommending many NTSC-J titles these days. I haven't really splashed out on DS titles so far, I've only owned 4 games, as I haven't found much time to play it until now.

Since I'm starting to play it, I'll soon be hunting for NTSC-J gems, but no one seems to be playing any. Anyone know how the following play?

                              Ganbare Goemon: Toukai Douchuu
                              Mawa****e Koron
                              Kenshuui Tendo Dokuta
Kenshuui Tendo Dokuta 2: Inochi no Tenbin
                              Londonian Gothics: Meikyuu no Lolita
Tottoko Hamtaro: Nazo Nazo Q Kumonoue no Jou
                              Eyeshield 21: Max Devil Power
                              Osawari Tantei: Osawa Rina
                              Legend of Stafi 4
