    start a new thread then?

the OP wants English games not Japanese ones

Has to be said, I can't even find the effort to get past the second world on Sonic Rush,

my top DS games so far have been Yoshi's Touch & Go if you have someone to play score attack with, Kirby is fantastic, and New Super Mario Bros. At ?10 Polarium is worth a look too if you want something you have to sit and think about.

Goemon is excellent. It looks beautiful with fantastic ukiyo-e style painted backdrops and decent polygonal characters.

There is a large amount of Japanese text in it as you might expect. All with furigana readings but also often written in country bumpkin dialects which can make it tough to understand. The text is often gameplay critical too, but there are FAQs out there to help.

Top soundtrack too. Real shame Konami never brought it to the West.

No one seems to be recommending many NTSC-J titles these days. I haven't really splashed out on DS titles so far, I've only owned 4 games, as I haven't found much time to play it until now.

I have to second this. The levels are terrible, with death drops that come out of nowhere thanks to the small screen, enemies that require more than one hit, and bosses that were just pointlessly long winded. There was more wrong with it but it's been a while since I returned it the day after I purchased it so I can't remember much more. But I want to add a vote for 'avoid'.

Ooops! Seems like I have stirred up a fair bit of Sonic Rush hate! Despite the annoying death drops, I wouldn't call it terrible. For the most part, the levels were enjoyable. The repetitive boss battles were what annoyed me the most.

the boss battles were awful! why the **** do you have to hit the 8 times! ><

i didnt think the death drops were to bad personally, i jsut thought it was far to bland and too much of was spent just holding down the forward button. and when you actually get to a platformy bit there absolutly terrible.

Sonic Rush is decent, probably the first decent 2D Sonic since S&K, but the aforementioned flaws cripple the game. They crippled the Advance titles too, Rush simply succeeds because it manages to provide an entertaining game regardless.
You should certainly buy it, just don't go expecting Sonic of the old days to be back... that's never going to happen.
