They do if they're GC or Xbox titles.

A large majority of PS2 titles still don't either feature 60hz modes (oddly enough, loads of UK/European developers seem to be guilty of this) and are heavily delayed (a recent example being Okami - September US release, Feburary European release).

What he probably meant is that the expensive GC games are only expensive in PAL format. On NTSC, GC games are about the same as PS2 and XBOX.

PAL GC games are almost niche market targets, similar to how PAL PS2 Katamari was. Publisher knows not many copy will be sold, so sets a high wholesaler price, retailer buys fewer copies - all leading to a more expensive purchase for the buyer and more difficult to find.

Not really. There's no prog scan on PAL Cube/Xbox, which is a good enough reason for many to avoid the format.

          My thoughts, my thoughts...

Especially when importing with the cube is so easy, thanks to freeloader.

Check out Cash Generator - their prices vary, depending on area, but my fave one has all GC games at ?2.99 - I've got Mario Kart DD, Resi 0, Zelda with bonus disc (purely for eBay as I kept the original one I got in 2003), Resident Evil 4 (mint and with the original buyer's ?39.99 GAME receipt!), P.N.03, and lesser-valuable stuff like the Tony Hawk's games which I seem to enjoy more on GC, due to the sharp RGB display. I'm still waiting for a ?2.99 Animal Crossing to turn up. Bignige is a very lucky bastard!

All the Cash Converter stores near me (Belfast,N'ards Rd and Lisburn) seem to be alot dearer than the mainland stores by the prices ur all saying. And no Cash Generator to giv CC some competition

Theres also the fact some games get bits removed for piss poor reasons.

Take zelda 4 swords +, in japan it was 3 games on the disk. Over here you paid full price but only got 2 thirds of the game.

Navi trackers was cut because it was apparently too hard to get the name recognition software to pronounce english names (umm yeah sure nintendo) So maybe it was too hard to get tetra to say player one or green player instead of your name, ooh no too hrd so we'll just remove it. Pure lazyness.

Navi trackers was a brilliant use of the gba/gc link & its still my most fave part of the whole game & thats the reason i'll only buy NTSC-J gamecube games because 99.99% of the time the jpn version will be uncut & have prog scan.

Why pay more & get less

Matty's fewer decent games theory sounds more likely.
My heart bleeds for you (really), GameStation have been doing Prime 2 for ?9.99 since like September last year, HMV do it for ?4.99 new as well, it's weird Metroid Prime 2, (along with Geist) dropped in price quite quickly, Odama has done the same thing, but other games have all held their value.

I agree with most of this. However this whole prog scan business eludes me, I'm glad I don't really know what it is, I quite happy with my old bog standard bohemoth tv.
Games being cut down for European releases is a bugger, but with something like a Zelda game, a japanese version is rather useless to the vast majority given the language barrier.
Don't get me wrong, I do favor imports in certain circumstances, like my weakenss for Japanese Megadrive games. But there's a time and place for import centrism like with japanese only releases or games that take an age to be ported. However I'll happily buy the super cheap 505 gamestreet pal ps2 shooters, which cost like 1/3 of the jap originals.

crack converters..... wouldn't all their games be scratched to f**k?

I agree about pal games being very pricey, go to gamestation and you pay ?19.99 for smash bros, second hand ?18.99, what is the point? Strangely enough i find that buying jap GC games is far more affordable than buying pal, combine that with the many games that never came to pal shores and the excellent jap GC cases, its win win all the way baby yeah!

I don't think there's any link. If the Cube had made more ground in the market, piracy would have become more rampant. By time the first GameCube modchip appeared, the Cube was already on it's way out anyway.
