    UK Import shops?

    Hi all,

Looking to get hold of a copy of the USA version Dead Rising (360), but was wondering if there are any UK import shops still around? The one I previously used has now closed down

    Thanks,

    D

Game Focus yes, but you may as well use VG+, pay for DHL 48 hour delivery (?12 ?) and it will still work out cheaper than buying from them - nothing personal if anyone from GF is reading

Yeah its usually faster and cheaper to import stuff yourself these days.

Ravenonline gets stuff in VERY fast, but they are also very expensive.

Which online importers are best these days?

I used Liksang ages ago, but delivery took ages and I got hit with a large customs bill

VG+, LS, YA all take paypal nowadays, though the payment process isn't exactly prompt unfortunately.

for USA games, videogamesplus.ca - ask them to mark down the value and they will standard delivery about 5-7 working days or pay the extra for a courier delivery.

VG+ and Tronixweb for north america and yesasia.com for asian games.

Play asia and Lik Sang are not safe bet for avoiding import duty.

Play-Asia have sold out of their initial stock of Dead Rising & don't expect more 'til 10 days after release.

Normally they're excellent though, ship quickly & have some great bargains. If you ask them (before ordering) they'll set up your account so all future orders are automatically marked down to 1/2 their actual value for customs purposes.

NCSX have been every bit as good as Tronix in my experience, though Tronix have also never failed me.

VG+ are fine, but the deliveries times have been all over the place, as long as 2 weeks at one time. NCSX/Tronix usually get a title to me in 2 days.

I've imported my main consoles and done many bulk orders for games from Play-Asia and always had a good experience with them. The only thing I dislike is the inability to get any PSP titles from them.

YesAsia and NCSX have both been used for ordering games again without any hassles.

Strangley enough I've only used Lik-Sang the once to order a memory card so can't really comment about long term reliablity.

use to get my import needs from raven games, but they were just arse raping prices.Took me a while to realise how cheap i could get import stuff online.

Tronix are the way forward my friend.Great, friendly service and the quickest delivery on the web.

I use Play-Asia for Japanese/Asian games and Tronix for US games. No problems with either of those, and Tronix will always mark the value down and/or put on the invoice that it's promotional material so that you won't pay import duty.

Pretty much all UK importers are going to charge like ?50 for a new game because they're in the unfortunate (for them) situation of having their little monopoly broken up by the Internet. We can get our games from abroad for the same price that they pay without their markup, but the ones I really have a problem with are the ones like Raven Games who actually supply a lot of import shops but still sell the games to customers for ?50. The markup on that must be insane.

Oddly there are still people with more money than sense who pay those prices, though. I'm a regular in the Video Game Centre in Bournemouth which is a ?50-a-game place but when a big new import comes out they comfortably sell out their first batch every time.

Yep, Tronix are the way forward for US games, only problem is you do need to get in early with your pre-orders if it's a sought after title.
