Outrun 2 looks great in VGA, I'm getting a lot more slowdown (30fps instead of 60 in a lot of places) than my lyris says he gets with the US version of the game through HDMI.

what an anti-climax
c2c looks crap through vga - blurred and low res, lots of draw in of textures, just poor.
do not know if it is me getting used to good HD gaming, but if this is the quality of the original xbox games, i wil not be going back again.
shame cos i loved the game on my original xbox, it did not look this poor running on an old crt through rgb.
tried changing vga res to 640x 480 but still, it just looks .... wrong.

It's a bit of both.
It's not amazingly well emulated, the blurred textures, draw in of textures (I assume you mean the mip mapping) etc are all a lot worse on the 360 than the original XBox. This is nothing to do with it being through VGA.
On the other hand, I remember it looking much blockier on the original XBox on an LCD, the upscaling really helps.
I think the fact that most of us are still loving this game in spite of the problems just shows what a damn fine game it is.

probably so disappionted becasue i really do love this game - it didn't look anywhere near this ad on my last lcd with the original xbox.
just seems 'half' there like all the fien detail is missing and for the beautiful journey, it was that fine detial i used to love admiring whilst sliding round a bend.
oh well, back to the clear graphics and realistic handling of forza then for me.
it was my first foray into the who bc thing and i just feel let down.

Most XBox games are like this on 360, to be fair. It's emulation, and it seems to have gotten a bit sloppier over time, though with us lot screaming for X game to be playable, it's hard to complain.
I do know what you mean though, 100%. It just doesn't bother me enough to stop me playing.
Forza? Rather you than me

It doesn't look as good as Chaos Theory but I'm sure I read some Xbox reviews that said they felt the graphics were a slight step back from CT. It plays well though, is different to the 360 version and has a co-op campaign. I don't know how well the Live co-op campaign works because the CT version was suffering a poor frame rate the last time I played it 360 to 360 (CT co-op 360 to Xbox, forget about it).

On the downside that mip mapping (which was simply non existant on some levels in coast to coast, presumably for memory reasons) is set up badly, and the loading times are pretty long.
The PC version looks the cleanest but it's also a pretty buggy version. I'm happy enough with it on 360 back compat and there are other games I'd sooner they cleaned up first, such as PDO with it's squashed widescreen and dodgy gamma set-up.
