Rocky - quality 2 player action

Couldn't find a specific thread for this, so here we go:
I was round at Marcus' pad, checking out a few games I have missed and he puts Rocky on (xbox version but I guess they are all the same) and it was great! I think what made it for me was the simplicity. Within half an hour, even though I hadn't played it before, I was almost holding my own (although Marcus might say otherwise ). Fairly quickly I could predict a few of his more frenzied attacks and dodge them. I would imagine that it would get dull after more than a few hours, unlike SC or VF, which get better the more you play. But again, unlike these games, Rocky doesn't have to be practised for hours on end to get something out of it. The game's simplicity balances out the gameplay and makes it more a about maintaining a variety of attacks in random order and exploring which moves your opponent tends to use and in which order, a bit like real boxing.
As a game to pick up and play with someone who has never tried it before and still remain fun, there are few others as good. Perhaps bomberman and chu chu rocket.

Rocky is great as anyone can just pick up and play it instantly, its so natural and easy to follow but most of all its always good fun. I find my fingers get a real workout with this one too, and a long hard bout really does take it out of you. Theres nothing more satisfying that a hefty uppercut knocking your opponent off the canvas!

Plus its Rocky, and as we all know, Rocky kicks ass ^_^

Indeed an excellent game. Few fighters have as good an atmosphere too, you just can't help but quote the film at every opportunity

I found single player quite tough, but multi is superb.

      Everyone - get it.

Sorry for dragging this thread back into the ring, but I bought Rocky (GC version) from Dixons for ?15 and gave it a go last night.

I was pleasantly surprised to see bits from the films making up the intro and when that music kicks in I was 13 again boxing in my mates garage. The atmosphere is spot on and, although I beat the living crap out of at least 8 fighter using only the X and Y buttons, it had me coming back for more.

The replays when you KO your opponents are harsh and had me wincing and laughing in equal measure. The SFX are juicy.

Towards the end of my session I had turned down the music, turned up the SFX and put on some Wu Tang as that Rocky theme had got a tad repetitive.

Looking forward to some two player action soon as I expect that is where the real challenge is and from what Charlesr and Marcus have said it sound good fun.

Glad I didn?t pay the full price last summer for it, if you see it cheap give it a go!

I took my xbox round to my mates house the other day. He also has an xbox and as there were 4 of us we got it all hooked up for system link gamage with Halo and PGR2. So we had a few games on PGR2 which was nice and then whilst i was setting up Halo on one box, he put Rocky on the other.... 4 hours later we were still playing Rocky. Suck an addictive game when it's winner stays on and the competition is high theres nothing better than knocking your pal out and humilliating him at the same time! Yay for super punches as well, so much fun. Great game go get it if you anit got it.

Rocky sucks. Any game that can be completed on the highest difficulty level with one button isn't up to much.

                        Winner stays on Rocky.. Rocks...

It's great to shout "Spider Rico ain't nuthin but a bum." at random moments during a bought.

Naiera, it may suck single player, but it's multiplayer fun we are talking here.
