Couldn't find a specific thread for this, so here we go:
I was round at Marcus' pad, checking out a few games I have missed and he puts Rocky on (xbox version but I guess they are all the same) and it was great! I think what made it for me was the simplicity. Within half an hour, even though I hadn't played it before, I was almost holding my own (although Marcus might say otherwise
). Fairly quickly I could predict a few of his more frenzied attacks and dodge them. I would imagine that it would get dull after more than a few hours, unlike SC or VF, which get better the more you play. But again, unlike these games, Rocky doesn't have to be practised for hours on end to get something out of it. The game's simplicity balances out the gameplay and makes it more a about maintaining a variety of attacks in random order and exploring which moves your opponent tends to use and in which order, a bit like real boxing.
As a game to pick up and play with someone who has never tried it before and still remain fun, there are few others as good. Perhaps bomberman and chu chu rocket.
