Sim City DS - What other Stylus controlled games would interest you?

I've just noticed the post on the news section that Sim City is about to be released on the Nintendo DS. It's main control method is to use the touch screen and the stylus (much like a mouse on a PC) to control where to build your cities etc.

This is great news (as I'm a Sim City fan), but why has it taken companies so long to realise that the stylus and the touch-screen can be used to excellent effect? Surely all of those great PC games that utilised the mouse in a point-click-move way (Sim City, Black and White, even Cannon Fodder) would have a great home on the NDS?

In your opinion, which games that are like this would you like to be developed to the Nintendo DS?

I for one would kill to see a version of Star Wars Galaxies (with WiFi support) or even WoW on my nintendo.

I'd like to test Homeworld and basically any other RTS game. Old school point and click adventures will be able to see a second youth on the Nintendo handheld.

Problem is the screen isn't that high resolution. You're going to end up with very small stuff, or a game that looks nice but has too much scrolling around.

For something like Sim City I don't think it'd be a problem because its slow paced. A fast paced RTS could be annoying though.

supercard + scummVM ds = most scumm games on the DS. Totally worth the money - DOTT, Sam N Max, Monkey Island 1 + 2 - and a few more - all playable on the DS

I agree - those Lucasfilm games such as Monkey Island and Indiana Jones (plus Day of the Tentacle) would also work great!

I'm sure they will release the other sort of Sim-City type games; Theme Park, A-Train, Civilisation.... like you guys say it would give all of those games a 2nd birth.

Nintendo, are you listening? Any others folks?

I can imagine having to bulldoze a load of misplaced railway line because the touchscreen, although brilliant, wouldn't be too acurate for itty-bitty bits of rail.... imo. Could be awesome though if they get it right.

I want to see more innovative puzzle games made for the touchscreen. I don't think we've seen 1/2 of what could be done.

I'd love to see some more strategie games on the ds. Something like a Nectaris remake, or Vandal Hearts (which had been announced years ago, seems like it has been canceled), or a Nippon Ichi game.

Civilization would definately rule, or some of the more obscure mouse-controlled Games from PC like Strange Adventures in Infinite Space, Ocular Ink or Darwinia. Of course this'll never happen..

While I agree, I'm sure that the zoom in SimCity and its relaxed pace would mean those things wouldn't be a massive problem. Definitely something to consider for other touchscreen games though.

couldn't they also just do an intelligent point to point set up? touch where you want road/rail to start, touch where you want it to finish, job done.

If they get it right, it could very easily pave the way for plenty more fantastic PC games that would without the touchscreen otherwise normally be very clunky on any console.

Wouldn't Sim City suffer from the same problem as Advance Wars DS with regards to stylus control? I thought most people found the stylus too fiddly for interacting with AWDS's grid-based play area, and resorted to d-pad control.

But in any case... what about a slew of real-time stats, graphs and headlines coming in on the top screen? multitasking ftw

X-Com/UFO Enemy Unknown would be my dream DS release - it could work so beautifully. I doubt that RebelStar:TC on GBA did well enough (not even a hint of a European release) for Codo to seriously consider it however.

Also, a proper CM style footy management game, but given that even SI's decent PSP attempt is massively cut down I wouldn't hold out much hope for it being that deep.

Command and Conquer for sure - although the screen is low resolution you'd be able to use one screen for icons to choose for building and then the other screen for the actual battleground.
