UK Pump National Qualifiers 23rd & 24th Sept, Trocadero

First off, I dont use this forum often and apologies if this has been posted in the wrong place(?)

    Short notice as the tournament is this weekend, but thought I may as well let you guys know ^^;;

    Summary
? Event is part of WPF (World Pump Festival)
? Has the backing of two major companies Andamiro and Funland Leisure.
? Event dates Saturday and Sunday the 23rd & 24th September.
? To be held in the Internet Caf? Area.
? This is the follow up to the successful May tournament.
? First prize is a plane ticket and all expenses paid accommodation in Seoul, Korea.

The tournament will determine the top Pump It Up players in the country and also their right to represent the U.K. at the World Pump Festival in Seoul, Korea this November. As in May, ideally the event will be split into two days.

On the first day, the machine is set to free play; each player gets to play one song for free and the machine is set to 1 song per play so there will be minimal waiting times. On the second day, the machine would be set to Event Mode, ready for the tournament.

    Tournament Event Schedule

    [11:00 ? 13:00] Player Registration.

    [14:00] Introduction to the event.

[14:10] First half of the tournament will start.

[15:30] Mid tournament break - Dance performance

[15:50] Second half of the tournament will start.

    [16:20] Tournament finish

[16:30] Tournament Results announced - Prizes + trophies and awards.

Tournament Category ? Speed - ?5 Entry Fee
Involves playing the game for the highest score and on high difficulty levels. The winner is the player who achieves the highest score after progressing through several rounds until reaching the finals. Our UK first prize is an all-expenses paid trip to WPF 2006, being held next in Seoul, Korea this November. This is the ultimate prize for U.K. players of the game who will compete against 20 other nations from Europe, South America, and Asia. 2nd and 3rd prize recieve 60% and 40% of the total entry fee pot respectively.

Tournament Category ? Freestyle - No Entry Fee
This category requires players to create an original dance routine for a song of their choice. The styles expected to be seen include Hip Hop, Break, Streetdance, Popping, Locking, and more. Being creative in choice of clothing and visual presentation relevant to the song also scores points with the judging panel.

Unfortunately as Andamiro are not including the UK in the WPF freestyle category there is no major prize (there are VERY FEW decent freestylers over here), so entry in this category will be free and every entant will get official merchandise (caps, visors, T-Shirts, sweatbands, mousemats, DVD?s and other promotional items). No pressure, just enjoy! There will be 1 trophy for the best overall performance.

    World Pump Festival & G-Star
After winning their National Festivals, the top Pump It Up players from twenty nations (double compared to last years event) will be flown to Seoul, Korea for the inaugural WPF event which takes place on November 12, 2006. With over $146,000 in cash prizes and the title of World Pump It Up Champion on the line, the level of competition is expected to be higher than that of any other dancegame tournament in history. The WPF is set to be the main attraction of GStar, Korea's newest and largest video game trade show and convention, similar in size and attendance to E3 in America. At last year's debut show, which was backed by central and local government in Korea, GSTAR recorded 160 exhibitors and more than 150,000 visitors.

    ? Host Nation: Korea
    ? Date: 12. Nov. 2006
    ? Venue: Kintex (G-star)
? Settled Nations : Argentina, Brazil, Indonesia, Italy, Korea, Malaysia,
Mexico, Russia, Spain, Taiwan, U.S.A, Colombia, England, The Philippines, China, Hong Kong, Ecuador, Bolivia, Peru, Chile
    ? Total prize money : US $ 146,000
