Marvel Vs Capcom & the joy of rediscovery

I've been playing MvC on DC this fair eve - I know it's old, but I just thought we should take a moment to appreciate how great this game is - it's fast, it's frantic & most of all, it's so much fun. It works as a nice antidote to other fighters, both 2D & 3D - the action is great, but it doesn't seem to take itself too seriously (although there's depth to be had) - the over the top animations & specials help keep the action & tone light & it's all the more enjoyable for it.

It's definitely a game to play in tandem with another, perhaps more heavy, fighter. I feel like I've rediscovered something great, having forgotten about it for so long.

    Anyone else care to share?

...but my favourite 'vs' game is definately 'xmen vs street fighter'.

I'm with Mr Angel on this one. Although it was Marvel vs Capcom 2 that was one of the first games I bought for my dreamy Dreamcast. I spent days unlocking every character, costume and background.

Just recently re-discovered it with the DC arcade stick.

        JOY!

Personally I though Marvel Vs. Capcom was a step too far for the versus series.

Marvel Super Heroes Vs. Street Fighter was (is) the best crossover game Capcom did.

It was probably one of the most shallow 2D Capcom fighters (Once their charge bar was up, players only had to press L and R at the same time, to perform a super move!) but I loved it because of the humour and the sheer insanity of it all, remember when you could make billions of Servbots (From Megaman) run across the bottom of the screen?

It's a damn shame the Xbox version didn't have online play.

I preferred the first MvC to the 2nd one. It just felt a bit better to me for some reason. Plus the smaller roster makes it easier to choose a character

I'm with C' on this one. MSH vs SF was the best. Largest character roost and it definatley seemed to run better on the ol' trusty Saturn than MvC did on DC. Well, thats what I thought anyway.

I've been playing Xmen Vs. Streetfighter (My fave) in the arcade recently. It's ok, but not as good as rediscovering KOF'97.

You should try playing MvC2 more. You never know you might get into it and we'd have something else to play.
