In addition, PS3 hardware was finalised (apparently) a long while back so it's not like it has any newer tech per-se than 360 does under the hood.
There's no doubt that the cell chip is more cutting edge than the 360's CPU. The final spec of the 360 was agreed way before the PS3s. Moores law simply dictates that the PS3 will be more powerful.

Plus developers have only had the kits for the same amount of time that they had the 360 kits. As I said, it's possible that developers working on the 360 has benefitted the PS3, but I think some of it is the grunt of the machine as well.

What's most interesting about the Cell is it's trying to do something a little different to traditional x86 based processors. If it works it looks to me like the next step in processor evolution.

I don't think there will be a big difference in the graphics of the games on 360 and PS3, games on both system will look absoluty fabulous, and I'm sure that great games will come on both systems, so who's best ? the graphics won't decide this..... I think for me the controller, ease of use, online gaming and other online stuff are going to be a important issue, and considering all this , I think the 360 is going to be the nr.1 for me.....

still I need to buy an PS3 to play DMC4.......

It doesn't matter which console is the 'most powerful'. If a console is programmed effectively then it will look amazing. PS2 is home to some games that would put 99% of Xbox games to shame even though it is on paper 'less powerful'. Same went for the ZX Spectrum vs. the C64.

PS3's obvious advantage is its High capacity media, whether this will be a real advantage only time will tell, but I can't see how it won't be.

The two next-gen titles that have impressed me most have been Afrika and Heavy Rain because they could be offering something that broadens gaming.

360 has bored me to tears so far with its FPS's and generic titles. No doubt most PS3 games will bore me to tears as well, but because of its (probable) huge popularity it seems to be the platform that the 0.01% of developers wishing to produce something original may head for. Then again a lot of those titles will be multi-platform anyway (high capacity media willing!). Except many of the Japanese ones, just can't see any Japanese companies porting niche titles to the 360, hard enough to get them to release them in the West at all!

i wonder about how bug testing would be done with the constant adding stuff

The only way i can see them doing is if they had the complete game tested it then removed a lot of the stuff they wish to sell

            Which would be evil

in all my years of 8 bit gaming I never saw a spectrum game that looked better than its C64 equivelent.

what was the c64 version of myth like compared to the speccy?

I would rather had simpler graphics if it means a bigger and more involving game

Hmm, I can't think of anything off the top of my head, but certainly the lovely graphics of Knightlore, Fairlight, Heavy on the Magick, and a host of others, had a hand drawn quality unavailable to most C64 titles.

I'm not talking of different versions of the same games but original titles for each system. For example Ico looks as good as anything on Xbox or Gamecube.

I'm still waiting for 40 cars

But no, gamers don't have the balls to learn something like that these days so a certain company won't do it. Thanks.
