The series is not everyone's cup of tea, I'm sure. I am enjoying digging into DW8 (late to the party!). When I saw this at the recent State of Play, I have to say, I have't stopped thinking about it. It finally looks like Koei Tecmo/Omega Force have upgraded the game away from the PS2 days. I think it's looking fantastic.

- Release date - January 17th, 2025
- This game is being treated like a mainline title, not a spinoff.
- The producer describes the game as more of a tactical action rpg.
- The story is meant to be accessible for new players as well.
- The game is singleplayer only according to the PlayStation Store and Steam.
- There will be Chinese, Japanese, and English voice acting.
- At the very least, if a character is unique, they will not be turned into a generic again if they end up reappearing. This does not mean every character is guaranteed to return.
- Characters now also have “younger versions.” So far we’ve seen this with Cao Cao and Guan Yu. Age isn't the only factor though, the status/position of the characters also affects appearances. For example, Cao Cao and Liu Bei won't look like kings during the Yellow Turban Rebellion.
- The depictions of some characters have been changed to fit the story being told. Everyone by now has seen how they’ve changed Zhang Jiao. Some "flashy" elements will still be present, but toned down.
- The producer says this is a “return to the roots of the series” and focuses on the gameplay and story.
- By taking advantage of new hardware, the number of soldiers is 10 times as many as the number of soldiers in Dynasty Warriors 8 and 9 at the lowest estimate according to the producer.
