    PlayStation3 in Akihabara on Saturday

I'll go to Akihabara on Fridaynight and (hopefully) get a PlayStation3 in te morning. AsoBitCity opens up at 7am!! and Sofmap will be giving out tickets at 9.30 and open up 11am. A Sofmap employee told me they expect to get around 100 consoles, that's all?! Medialand isn't even selling! It's going to be crazy out there on Saturday morning, an experience I don't want to miss.

Anybody else in Tokyo going to wait in line?

Do you think you'll get one? What are Japanese crowds like when there are shortages?

That is what I really want to find out, the line will be honest I guess as always here but what if it says sold out..which it will for the next couple of weeks or even months..

Are Yodabashi-Akiba not getting any machines?

Good point, I will check all the major shops around midnight and decide where to go in line. If that isn't too late already. Then I'll go back to Shinjuku and get drunk at my local rock bar.

Given the problem(s) that Sony have encountered to during the production phase, there'll be shortages galore.

There's a rock bar in Shinjuku? ****, missed that when I was over there.

Given the size of Yodabashi-Akiba, I would've thought they might get a decent-ish quota.

Yeah there are two actually. My favourite down small stairs, only about 12 people can be in the bar and the great thing is they have a drink and music menu. So you can ask for a band, they give you the cd's they have and you pick a song. Best place in Tokyo for me.

Anyone knows a place in Nagoya where there is a slim chance they will have it on Saturday?

Me and my mate are, I/we have no interest in the machine (RR7 is pap) but these launches are mint. He is setting up camp at 18:00 Friday night and I will push in the line to join him later. It`s going to be a long cold night until 07:00 rolls around. I went to Akihabara on Saturday to check out the vibe and from reading the shop posters regarding their plans come Saturday, I don`t think one could chose a worst place than Akihabara to try and get one. Most shops are getting 10-15 units each, and these are the big boys. I`ve done the GC, DS and PSP launches in Tokyo and it`s mint fun I tell thee. A few hours later my PS3 60GB will be on a plane to England where a well known, long established grey importer will be forking out 1,000 quid for it-lovely! Feels mint that the tables have turned after all these years. I want a white PS3 when it comes out anyway.

Alot of people said that they didn`t really care but as I expected when it came to it people are going spastic for the PS3. I heard that there is only 80k units for day one here which is alot less than for N.A. which is disgraceful really. Pre-orders have been virtually non-existant (except at independant shops) or not worth the paper they are written on, I`ve got 3 pre-ordered but I won`t hold my breath. The earlier one starts lining up the, the more chance one has of getting one.

It would be a shame if the Wii cleaned up at Christmas for the wrong reasons. Nobody really wants a Wii over a PS3, really, people want something to play with on Christmas morning. I don`t blame/hate Sony at all really. I think they should of delayed N.A. and looked after Japan first though.

There will be a Worldwide shortage but if they would of released a long time after November people would of been none the wiser. I don`t think Sony can`t make enough machines on purpose. Those with a PS3 in November won`t be moaning anymore or even thinking of others without and why should they? The whole thing is one big fu#k up. But you know what, hard-core gamers love this situation, the Japanese public love shortages and the media lap it up. Would it be fun to stroll into any shop on day one in Japan and see the machines stacked up to the rafters and be able to buy one along with every other person? Not really. The best game is getting one as no matter who you are, what you think you know or whom, everyone has the same chance of getting one. Get your sleeping bags ready, your wooly mittens as its going to be fecking freezing!

I had forgotten that it's now Nov and it will be out this month. I had a go on GT over at Bic in Ginza and was impressed by the clarity. 'Full Spec Hi Vision' looks good. The selection screen models are outstanding. The game of course is just GT high res so it seems, but I am sure it will sell by the bucketload.

JAPJAC, you are right it's going to be freezing overnight. I think winter has arrived in Kanto as it's been a bit chilly in the evenings over the last couple of days. Brrrr.
