    A new dawn for Nintendo?

I'm sure I'm not the only one who has had a smile put on their face by the initial success of the Wii, both from the critics and more importantly for Nintendo, in retail.

Response for the Wii appears to of been phenomenal, Amazon just reported that the Wii was the fastest selling pre-order ever in the UK, it totally sold out in 7 minutes, beating Harry Potter and Coldplay.

It is nice to see that Nintendo are still gonna be in the market and have hopefully be reinvigorated following the commercial dropout that the Gamecube quickly became.

Hooray for Nintendo, may you continue to Milk the Mario Francise for many more years to come

Although I am very pleased for Nintendo to sell so many units it's always inevitable it'll sell really well on launch, there's always enough fans out there to pick em all up.

Having said that there seems to be an absolute arse load of machines pre ordered in the UK which is surprising, the true test however lies within the longevity of these sales. I'm hoping as well as positive it'll have the same success as the DS!

Tis true they always go well on launch, but this time it seems unusually well known that the Wii is coming out.
Even my non gaming friends have said how they like the look of it

Agreed, I think it'll do alot better than nintendos previous efforts which in the UK doesnt say much.

I can't wait to see the japanese launch for it, I hope to see sell out crowds waiting for it I'm really looking forward about getting my machine not only for Zelda but for showing the non gamers how they'll play Wii Sports. It's a rare occurance I get excited about showing people who dont play games about the things I get ie my mum

I'm getting one, but still think it'll be gathering dust a couple of hours later after the novelty wears thin.

Or the killer game for next year. The Resident Evil highlights package using the RE4 engine and the Wii controller.

The streets of Racoon, RE4 style for the win. Without a doubt.

If Capcom get this right and not treat it as a novelty or an off shot then it'll be huge.

Well to be honest i am kindoff hoping with the wii that there is ALOT more exclusive games released then with the gamecube

last generation the ps2 releases dwarfed the cubes and xboxes combined

i also had kindoff hoped that with the difference in power and control system we would see less multi console conversions (which would mean they would have to concentrate on systems exclusive games)

still at that price i am going to get one

I'm hoping to see some new franchises. I'm bored with game names with 4, 7 and XIII (etc) at the end. At least the console itself isn't GC2.

I'll be getting one for sure, I need to play the new Zelda and I'm just to curious how it is the play games that way, still I think it'll be more of a fun gadget/party game like console instead of a console I will spend many hours behind.
I hope to be proven wrong though...

Aye you cannot grumble on the price.

But i think this time Nintendo have been very clever with distancing themselves from Microsoft & Sony so that they are not really directly competing with them and are offering a different gaming experience, which is one reason why i think the Wii has sold really well.

I think there will be a number of exclusives but these will probably be mainly from Nintendo themselves, the large third party developers such as EA will still launch their titles on as many formats as possible with little variety between each one. I just hope that when multi format games are developed on the Wii they do make some effort to make best use of the controllers.

For me, it will be well into the first part of next year before i buy a next generation machine as i am waiting to see what the next 2nd batch of games are going to be like. But at the moment the Wii is by far the most appealing to me as it is trying to do something a little different.

To me it will complement my 360 beautifully !

I just hope they don't leave us waiting donkeys for the quality software - Sure I want to see new franchises as well (with Miyamotos name on it maybe ) but golly gosh I need me some Mario Kart and FZero online ><

A new luigis mansion with the wii-mote could be most excellent as well.

I know what you mean Nige. I'm getting one, but I can't see myself playing that much. It will be great at Xmas though -can't wait to see everyone jumping around playing tennis though.

Zelda sounds great and I bet it is excellent fun. But I also bet that I'll spend the whole time wishing it was in HD and wishing that I could see my Live Friends list.
